John O'Callaghan hits us head on with the latest in the "Live As..." series. Let's see what I make of this brand new mix comp ...
John O'Callaghan is truly one of the more advancing names on the production scene with his pure driving yet energetic releases, most notably on Recoverworld and it's sub labels, but there is the other side to him that is just as good and thats when he get's behind the decks!
"Live As..." Vol2 kicks off in true energetic fashion and to be honest doesn't give you time to stop until it reaches the end. Those clubbers @ Inside Out, Glasgow must of loved this set as it was being recorded for you're listening pleasure!
With melodic yet driving input from the likes of John's mix of Askew's "How Can I Put This?" it sets the scene perfectly for the journey ahead, flying through absolute belters such as Ottaviani's "Skywalk" & then going down and dirty with the perfectly executed Woody van Eyden B2B Alex Morph Remix of "Y68". It is on this track that you feel the ultimate "Live As..." feel with the delay bouncing back from around the club and the crowd noise that truly makes all that difference. In actual fact it makes you feel like you're there yourself!
The pace is then picked right back up with the Ian Betts Remix of Static Blue's "Fade Away" and from there on as the famous saying goes ...the rest is history! It just get's better and better - how big a tune is Kearney's "More To Life" ?!?
Rounding things off on the mix in a true 'Underground Techno' influenced manner with his own production "Oh Yes", you fell that John O'Callaghan has just proved to you that he is much more than just a banging producer but a banging DJ too!
