From a backyard party in the company of 200 party-crazed Aussies, local police and environmental health workers back on June 2001 (!), to a sell-out crowd of 20,000 up-for-it clubbers on the glorious grounds of Clapham Common (for the 3rd year running) and a debut sell-out festival in Cardiff on the August Bank Holiday Weekend 2006… the South West Four gang have certainly come a long way since those humble, yet hedonistic early days. In the space of only 6 years, South West Four London has shot through the ranks to become Southern England’s leading outdoor event and one of Europe’s most important dance festivals, with South West Four Cardiff flying the flag in Wales. 2006 was a historic year for South West Four London – named after the London postcode it resides in, where tickets sold out in record time well ahead of the actual day of reckoning. In fact, over 5,000 people were turned away in total, as the realism of just how big the festival has become really hit home. As part of the Metro Weekender (together with indie-dance day’s Get Loaded in the Park / Cardiff Calling), South West Four Cardiff was also deemed an instant success with all 10,000 tickets being snapped up, as an all-star cast of DJs including Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold and Armin Van Buuren rocked the show. Back in London, Carl Cox and Paul Oakenfold did the double, as Pete Tong, John Digweed and Judge Jules also lead the troops from the front. South West Four picked up 4 nominations at the UK Festival Awards 2006 for Best Medium-To-Large Festival and Best One Day Festival (both London) and Best One Day Festival and Best New Festival (both Cardiff). Everyone is waiting with baited breath to see which DJs will be announced at this summer’s South West Four festivals, which will again take place on the August Bank Holiday Weekend. The London leg will blow away everything that it’s ever done before, as this year’s line-up is by far and wide the greatest collection of globe-trotting DJs we’ve every assembled. South West Four Cardiff meanwhile, will offer even more value for money as we bring you more of the biggest names on the planet, alongside the key clubs and DJs from Cardiff, all played out on the breathtaking backdrop of Coopers Field, Bute Park. Please note: both events will sell-out, so we urge you to snap up your tickets now, whilst stocks last!!

'GOD' DOES THE DOUBLE IN LONDON & CARDIFF...
The World's undisputed No.1 DJ (DJ Mag Top 100 Poll 2005/2006), Paul Van Dyk takes over the mantle from Carl Cox as this year’s exclusive South West Four festival headliner in both London and Cardiff. Nicknamed ‘God’ by his die-hard legion of fans, PVD has been one of the most consistent DJ/Producers of the past decade, scooping multiple awards and accolades en route to rocking just about every country on the planet. He rarely plays in the UK, making his appearances even more special, plus with a forthcoming artist album on the way and with a brilliant back catalogue that boasts classic tracks like ‘For An Angel’… PVD really is the closest thing to God you’ll see in Clapham and Cardiff all summer!! A number of DJs will also double up in London and Cardiff this summer including global megastar Sasha, house music’s all time great Roger Sanchez and Radio 1 guvnor Pete Tong, who’ll grace the ma-hoo-sive main stages in both cities. The legendary Timo Maas and breakbeat dons Plump DJs also make the drive down the M4 to both festival sites, as do the deadly Dutch pairing of Marco V and the hottest new kid on the block Sander Van Doorn.
IT'S A LONDON THING!!
In addition to those already mentioned, The End’s long-serving residents Layo & Bushwacka take to the main stage together with rising superstars SOS – that’s Demi, Desyn Masiello and Omid16B – who show us what can be done with 6 CDJ’s, 3 Mixers, 3 Laptops & 3 EFX units. Over in the Tents, this year sees a bit of a reshuffle as we welcome John Digweed’s pioneering Bedrock brand to the Common to present a one-off ‘International’ adventure featuring some of the powerhouses of the electronic scene. Step forward South American master Hernan Cattaneo, the man behind Pryda and Cirez D – Eric Prydz, ‘This Is’ resident and veteran spinner Sander Kleinenberg, plus Bedrock fave Jimmy Van M from the States. Elsewhere, the throbbing Gallery & HeatUK Tent will remain, offering the finest in tech-house and trance. This year’s chosen sons include trance-master Ferry Corsten and Radio 1 rogue Judge Jules, plus look out for the full announcement of the 4th Arena (and trust us… it’s well worth the wait!)
CARDIFF HERE WE COME...
Meanwhile over in Cardiff, there’s something of a reshuffle going on too amongst the tents as we’re delighted to announce the introduction of the Drum N Bass Arena for the very first time. With such a huge scene blowing up in South Wales and the surrounding cities, we felt it was our duty to bring some DnB riddums to Coopers Field by rolling out the heavyweights. Step forward LTJ Bukem, Goldie, Andy C, Fabio & Grooverider and High Contrast, with more acts to be announced. Elsewhere, the throbbing Time Flies Tent will remain, this year partnered by Radio 1 Resident Eddie Halliwell and his Fire It Up crew. Scratch-master Halliwell will of course headline the Arena, with a wealth of talent in support including The Gallery’s superstar resident Tall Paul, Marco V, Sander Van Doorn and local heroes Dave Eaves and the Bionic Allstars. Coming soon... Look out for more very special South West Four line-up announcements (both cities) as we reveal all the acts appearing across the 7 main stages.
