Leon Bolier dons his Precursor alias for this release on the 2Play imprint. Joop steps up and adds in a rather unique sounding remix...
:: Leon Bolier Pres. Precursor - Lyra :: 2Play :: 2PLAY017
A: Lyra (Joop Mix) Joop's mix of 'Lyra' takes a while to build up to its full sound. Initially everything seems fairly normal and standard, but eventually you notice something a little different about the rolling bass, the swirling pads and the very weird sounding fx which are on repeat in the background. There's a bit of crossover here between trance and psy-trance - at least that what it seems like. The only respite (a common trait of psy-trance these days) is the wonderfully epic, orchestral and operatic breakdown. This actually very enjoyable interlude then merges with the funked out bassline and is expertly merged back into the pumping, main sections of the track. WHilst the initial stages of this production may seem a bit flimsy, it is really brought together during and after the breakdown.
AA: Lyra (Leon Bolier Mix) Leon provides his own techy version of 'Lyra' and he does so in a more with-held and downtempo manner. The main flavours here are rounded and hollow electro basses with thick, beating kick drums. It remains deep and dark throughout, relying on a mixture of deep and gritty synths and a whole host of twisting, warped sfx.

Conclusion:
The A-side mix from Joop is the most interesting part of this release. The crossover between psy-trance and trance is quite apparent, and it seems to provide worthwhile results.
