Currently out right now on the digital imprint of Daif Records is a brand new Trance smash from Perpetual. Play listing on some very big radio shows this is one to check out.
The Perpetual boys have been producing since 2001 and are the combined force of Fredrik Lindblom and Henrik Coliin. This would be their first full release on Daif Records who keep on bringing quality fresh Trance with every release. It's a record that has appeared on Armins ASOT in recent weeks. Plenty of mixes in this release to suit most tastes.
:: Original Mix :: Soundphase Remix :: Mikael Sjoberg Remix :: Tragida Remix
Starting off with the original mix and you can't but be impressed by the record presenter here. The track starts off with soft tinted punchy beat and feeds in a short string which has a slight echo tint to it. In bangs the percussion with the beat pounding away and the track floating in and out strings. The backing sounds give a relaxing and mellow tone to the track and the way it builds down to the main melody is superb. Nothing simple just cut back on the sounds leaving the strings to do the work and the subtle bass changes. After almost silence in comes the main melody, a superbly uplifting string changes chords and building up loudness creeping on bass effects before uploading back with the beat. The melody is fresh, simple and more importantly very good. It's one of the finest I've heard this year and one that gets you playing it once more. The track deservs to be in the big jocks playlist as Armin has done. I'm sure it will be creeping into others soon to.
Lets talk remixes and with this release you have three to pick from. Mikael Sjoberg give a mix with a deeper more aggressive sounding beat and flowing percussion to help it on its way. He's taken the layout from the original and put a different sound on it. The strings are still there but they are more electronic sounding edge to the lead riffs. The melody takes on a stabby approach rather than smooth flowing leads. The breaks are short and Sharpe. This mix is for those who like a little high paced edge with their melodies.
The Soundphase mix gets a little creative. The main lead uses a deep bas driven riff which feeds in main melody. The breakdown uses a short piano sample with the melody fed into the background and then whips in a violin string of the melody. I'm not sure if they work with the style of the track but the strings that flow after add a nice edge and different approach on the uplifting style of the melody.
Finally on the remix train we have one by Tragida. Out of all of the remixes I think this one would be the pick for me. The melody has not really been messed about with but the style of the track with the energetic and wet sounding beat to it give it the energy and pace the original did not have. The beat is punchy and the melody is fed along nice by a whistle chord that fades into the foreground when the melody cuts back.
Conclusion:
This for me is one of Daif's strongest releases to date. The original mix is excellent and without doubt the mix you will want to get your hands on. The remixes or solid but only Tragida's stood out as one to keep an eye one for me. A nominee for melody of the year, the perpetual boys have done a good job here.
