After his debut on 2Play last year with the awesome 'F-16', Simon Patterson is back with 2 new tracks to tear down the house...
:: Simon Patterson - Strip Search / Panic Attack :: 2Play :: 2PLAY019
A: Panic Attack Like 'F-16', 'Panic Attack' is bridging the gap between trance and full-on psy trance. After a long intro of beats and what is frankly one of the most original pieces of intro-breakdown sections I've heard in a long time, if ever, the track drops into a distinct and driving rolling bassline. It's one of those you hear in psy trance all the time, ever present and totally unrelenting. As the track progresses, multiple acidic synth notes perforate the top end, painting a vivid and energetic picture for the mind. There's always something happening in this track and there's a multitude of different little breaks and sfx which literally keeps you on your toes, making 'Panic Attack' a really exciting production to listen to.
AA: Strip Search On the flip, 'Strip Search' takes a more progressive approach to things. Again there's a long and deliberate section of build up beats at the start which leads onto the onset of that undeniable psy trance bassline. Here, most of the action seems to take place in the background, with synths and pads adding piles of atmosphere and depth all the time. Add to that the wickedly relaxing piano section during the break and you have yourself a very well formed piece of what is essentially progressive psy trance.

Conclusion:
More top quality from Simon Patterson here. These tracks are clearly leaning towards the psy-trance sound much more and they do a good job at bridging the gap between two quite distinct styles of music.
