Another release on the popular Liquid imprint which has been doing the rounds recently is this new track from Activa. Rising star Leon Bolier and the established Joop go head to head on remix duties...

Having had good successes on other big labels such as Enhanced, Monster Tunes and Conspiracy, Activa returns to Liquid with a track that really does embody the sound and style of music that we've come to recognise Liquid Recordings for over the past few years.
'Genetix' is full of bright, crisp and flowing synths which push out a cyclic, arpeggiated riff. A softer layer of pads cushion the drive from the quite energetic bass, quietly masking the lively atmosphere which is created. One thing that does add an extra bit of spice is the rather funky acid line which makes an appearance in the quieter sections of the track when the lead is taking a rest. It rises and falls from within the depths of the production and adds that necessary bit of sparkle to avoid samey, boring sections. Good stuff!
AA: Genetix (Leon Bolier Vs. Joop Remix)
Leon Bolier and Joop's efforts have resulted in something quite different to what you;d expect. The pace is slower and the immediate feel is much more progressive and deep due to the soft bass and delicate backing synths which sprinkle notes over the top end of the track. The breakdown introduces some much tougher leads which have a rough, coarse feel. These add techy and almost electro-style elements into the mix. Quite an unexpected style of remix here but one which may still appeal to both fans of tech and fans of prog.

Conclusion:
The A-side holds a piece of non-complicated and enjoyable trance whilst Leon Bolier and Joop have gone for something which is really quite different. This is by no means a bad thing so get in there and check it out!
