Following on from the previous trance belter on Yakuza, Thomas Bronzwaer is serving up another belter of a track with a remix from John O'Callaghan...
:: Thomas Bronzwaer - Constellation :: Yakuza :: YAK017
A: Constellation (Original Mix) After the successes of his previous tracks on Yakuza ('Close Horizon' and 'Shadow World'), 'Constellation' looks like it's going to be Bronzwaer's biggest track yet. The pace is fast and upbeat - 142BPM. There's an earnest synth presence which acts as a teaser of what's to come as it builds up and leads you into the breakdown. The lead melody itself is smooth and flows in all the ways you'd expect it to whilst listening - no surprises or hidden twists, just a sweet, melodic progression of well picked out notes. There's a power struggle between the thick bassline and the energy filled synths but on the whole it's pretty neck and neck. This creates some wonderful moments when the bassline hits some deeper notes whilst the melody is hitting something much higher, creating some wicked harmonies and evoking some proper uplifting emotion.
AA: Constellation (John O'Callaghan Remix) JOC's style is easily recognisable here. The pace has been sped up even more (we're up to 143BPM now). He's also taken emphasis away from the basses and the leads equally, but added to the sense of drive with more pertinent kicks and percussion. The lead has been tweaked a little, making it sound higher and more glassy. You still get the great harmonies between the lead and the basses though and now you also get JOC's wild build ups which precede his fairly tough, driving style of uplifting trance.
Conclusion:
Top quality release here. It's tough to choose between remixes because they are both very strong, each carrying that great melody very well, evoking emotion and energy in all the right places.
