In Between being the name for Paul's new artist album which will be coming before the end of summer, it's sure to be one of the biggest selling dance albums of the year.
For the Paul van Dyk fans any new album with his name on the front is one that pops into the pre-order list quicker than formula 1 car through stowe on a grippy day. His last artist offering came in the way of Reflections which is still selling very well considering it first got released back in 2005. It will be his first artist album since he got crowned DJ Magazines world's best DJ and no doubt there is a reason to buy it right there.
There have been mutterings about him working on this album for a good year and it has an official release date. That date being on the 14th August which sits alongside his 5th annual DJ performance at Central Park, a popular outdoor dance feast set inside one of Americas most famous parks. What can you expect from this latest progression of Paul van Dyk's artist style?
Reading from an interview he gave over the Winter Music Conference weekend you can expect a very wide variety of tracks full of fresh sounding music with that added magic sprinkle Paul likes to put on things. He has been working on the tracks for the album for over three years and having trotted all over the world each track has its own story to tell. For those who dismiss the theory behind track making they can have whatever story they like but as long as they are pleasing to the ear it doesn't matter.
The rumour that one of the Pussycat Dolls performed vocals on one of the tracks is not true and I'm sure a DJ of Paul's calibre would not want pop monkeys such as those tarnishing his music. That said the vocal on "Nothing But You" was original done by a member of Hear'Say who were a popular band in the UK for a year after winning a talent contest. Paul changed the name on the single with good reason so it did not loose any respect amongst dance fans. The vocalists who have worked with Paul on the album have not been named and he has not said but I'm sure he has only picked the best voices for his tracks.
There has not been an official track list for the album been published yet but with over twenty tracks recorded for it its Paul's job to narrow down the tracks to fit on the album. I'm sure there will be various formats released but all that information will be available nearer the launch date, until then just pencil in the 14th August as a day to have a spare £10.
