Following the South West Four's 2006 debut in Cardiff it returns in 2007 with a much bigger, better and stronger line up to stake its claim as the best dance festival in Wales and the West Of England! Following the massive success of the events last year, feedback Qs was "Where's the DnB?" So its been announced that the Bass Invaders DnB Arena will be included in SW4's Cardiff event...!
SOUTH WEST FOUR AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND 2007 LONDON / CARDIFF http://www.southwestfour.com/ http://www.myspace.com/southwestfour
BASS INVADERS DRUM N BASS ARENA IN ASSOCIATION WITH REWIND! Feat: LTJ BUKEM / GOLDIE / ANDY C FABIO / GROOVERIDER / MARKY HIGH CONTRAST HAZE (BASS INVADERS) MOD (REWIND)
**THE LEGENDS** We're proud to welcome four of the most definitive names on the scene, four faces who between than have nurtured, shaped and formed the sound from it’s roots in early 90’s ‘rave’ scene to one of the hottest genres on the planet, one which remains as fresh and cutting edge today as it did when it first poked it’s head above ground at the beginning of the 90s.
We are of course talking about true drum n bass pioneers like LTJ Bukem, the inventor of the ‘intelligent’ and ‘liquid’ styles of drum n bass (AKA more chilled / atmospheric and jazzy) who makes his first trip to Cardiff in over four years will perform alongside other scene greats such as Goldie (Metalheadz) the man responsible for shaping the scene with anthems including ‘Terminator’, ‘Inner City Life’ ‘Angel’ ‘Temper Temper’ and more recently who’s just released his massive new album ‘Malice In Wonderland’. These two giants will be joined by two of the main proponents of the scene Fabio & Grooverider, two DJs that were responsible for bringing the sound smashing out of the ashes of rave music and into the hearts and minds of many through classic club nights such as Rage and since the mid-late 90s with their weekly Radio 1 radio show and not too mention sheer commitment to the sound.
**ANDY C IN THE PLACE TO BE** Another DJ who needs no introduction is Andy C, label boss of one of the biggest labels in the scene Ram Records, Andy C has been kicking it since the early 90s. From his out and out anthem ’Valley Of The Shadows’ (as Origin Unknown alongside Ant Miles) a record that was supported by any DJ worth his salt throughout the 90s and still guarantees a warm reception now, Andy has written and released some of the biggest anthems on the scene. His DJ Skills are unsurpassable earning him the title of one of the best DJs on the scene as well as releasing mix albums for Fabric, Mixmag and Drum And Bass Arena alongside Ram Record’s very successful ‘Nightlife’ series.
**SOUTH WEST FOUR GETS A BRAZILIAN** A man who needs no introduction, Brazil’s DJ Marky made his name through pioneering this sound in his home country. Pushing the sounds to thousands on a weekly basis through his extensive touring, radio and TV show DJ Marky is the leading drum and bass DJ in South America. Having released many killer singles (including the massive ‘LK’ and ‘Brazil EP’ Marky was immediately adopted by the UK via his unique and energetic style of DJ’ing.
**REPRESENTING CARDIFF** Representing Cardiff we welcome one of the hottest names in the world of Drum N Bass, Cardiff Local and worldwide exponent of the sound – High Contrast. A complete unknown when he signed his fist EP back in 2000, High contrast has gone onto smash his way through the scene in no time at all. His album ‘True Colours’ was released on Hospital Records in 2002, followed by the massive ‘High Society LP’ in 2004, which D+B bible Knowledge voted one of the top 10 albums of the last 10 years. Having remixed The White Stripes, Basement Jaxx and Blaze amongst many others High Contrast is truly a local legend. Hosting the arena will be local heroes Bass Invaders in association with Rewind both of whom have stamped their mark over the Welsh clubscene. Bass Invaders recently sold out the 2000 capacity Cardiff University weeks in advance when they bought Pendulum in to the city, Bass Invaders resident DJ Haze represents whilst second local night Rewind steps in tto ably assist the imminent throw down of beats and bass in this arena with resident MOD warming up the tent.
**SOUTH WEST FOUR TO KICK ARSE – OFFICIAL** Well we said we weren’t shy and here’s why: The South West Four returns as part of this summers Metro Weekender (together with indie-dance days Get Loaded In The Park / Cardiff Calling) to Clapham Common in London (Sat 25th) for its fourth sell out year and Coopers Field in Cardiff (Sun 26th) for it’s second sell out show following a storming debut last summer! Alongside our heavy, heavy Drum N Bass Arena, this summer’s event features the world’s No. 1 DJ Paul Van Dyk leading the charge in both cities alongside global megastar Sasha, house music’s all time great Roger Sanchez and Radio 1’s Guv’nor Pete Tong. The legendary Timo Maas and breakbeat dons The Plump DJs also travel down the M4 for both days alongside the deadly pairing of Marco V & Sander Van Doorn.
Elsewhere the throbbing Time Flies / Fire It Up Arena sees Radio 1 Resident Eddie Halliwell head up the arena alongside Gallery superstar Tall Paul, Marco V & Sander Van Doorn alongside local heroes Dave Eaves, Bionic Allstars and The Cool House Soundsystem
