After about a year of absence from Liquid Recordings, Ron van den Beuken is back with more of his trademark energetic trance. Tech trance producer Robert Burns steps up for the remix on the flip...
:: Ron van den Beuken - Alcatrazz :: Liquid Recordings :: LQ070
A: Alcatrazz (Ron van den Beuken Mix) You get that wicked RvdB feel right away with 'Alcatrazz'. It's always the rolling, buzzing bassline that does it. This time round though, the sound is more refined, sporting more depth and a deep, harmonic charge which embodies the sound so much more. You also notice that as the track progresses, more levels of sound and synth are added, showing that this is a more intricate and complex production which has had much more thought put behind it. As we hit the breakdown, there is an acidic riff which is used to filter in the melody with great effect. The melody itself is simple and catchy, played by synths which suited to RvdB's trademark sound. This time though, they click wonderfully with the deep, grinding bass synths and so a new driving force is born when the track drops back in. This works especially well after the particularly climactic breakdown and before you know it you'll be stomping away to the main riff as this one powers out to its final stages.
AA: Alcatrazz (Robert Burns Remix) Robert Burns has taken 'Alcatrazz' and teched it up to the eyeballs! We're talking massive thumping beats, dirty, gritty basses and icey percussion. As for the main riff, Burns has kind of switched things around. The main sections are led by the big, dirty basses and the only time the riff gets a look in is during the breakdown sections. The result of this is deeper feeling main sections, aided by the echoed chords which stab out a rhythm in the latter parts, too.

Conclusion:
It's great to hear some new tracks from RvdB. His sound is now more refined but still carries the same passion and energy as before. Robert Burns' remix show the deeper, techy side of things but I think the spotlight here is on the Ron van den Beuken Mix.
