Robert Lidstroem makes a welcome return to the Trance scene with his brand new production on Daif Records, a record label that is making big strides forward in the Industry.
The 14th release on Daif Records comes in the form of Robert Lidstroem with a new track using his Terra Cotta guise that he produces with his brother Erik Lidstroem. Three mixes to have a nosey at here with each being a compiled creation of uplifting trance with a slamming melody.
:: Original Mix :: Deeper Dupp Remix :: Tragida Remix
The original is the track you usually have a look at first so lets do that and see what kind of record we have on our hands here. The track starts off with a fairly up tempo beat and background riff looping over the distant sounds building. The sounds add onto the beat with a soft kick and splash. Cutting back on those comes a echoed starry piano styled string that floats over the beat and builds the intensity that is to follow. The background riff gives you a hint of the main melody to come but the hook in here are the strings and come right into the heart of the track when the beat falls away. The strings play on and the main melody feeds in from the distance and changes tone to create an uplifting and big room riff that is excellent put together and layered nicely. The beat and percussion come back for a little while before the beat cuts and chops then falls off to leave the riff building and building then with a short drum roll pound back into action. The main melody in this track is fresh, edgy and upbeat not to mention uplifting. Good work Robert.
The melody is there to be abused but what does Tragida sprinkle in with it? It starts off with a banging beat, kick and slap to get things moving then introduces a looped riff with the strings in a slightly different tone to the original. The beat cuts and the record heads into a deeply tone changing sound with a silent bass changing melody gathering pace. It's broke down in a more classical way before the main riff starts to build, chop and change before getting louder. The drum roll signals the return of the beat's and kicks and the riff here slides over the top. The breakdown on the track is good, possibly just a little long and not making best use of the up[lifting riff in the original. A good solid remix here never the less.
I've never heard anything from Deeper Dupp so this is a first for me. The beat they have here is a deep fred baker style kick drum to start off with. The tempo is slightly less than the other mixes and you have main lead riff with the sparkly strings flickering in the background. The breakdown keep dropping in a double beat then slides into a series of strings before dropping down into a main melody. The sound is fresh with the strings. The build back up brings in a deep woody style riff with the main beat pounding in the background. This mix stays similar to the original but plays on a steadily uplifting tone rather than a in your face chord change.
Conclusion:
This is another good release for Daif Records. The original would be my pick out of the three mixes on offer here just for the very fresh uplifting melody it hides within. Follow the links at the top of the review to hear samples of each at out store and purchase any of the mixes that take your fancy. Good work Robert Lidstroem on an excellent return to the label.
