Divini & Warning make their way onto Reset Records' main imprint with some bigger and better tribal tech music...
:: Divini & Warning - Chaib / Otrabanda :: Reset Records :: RS027
A: Chaib 'Chaib' falls into Divini & Warning's previously heard style of techy tribal driven music - similar to that of Katana but D&W have a fresh edge on their sound which at least holds a lot of promise for things to come. The track itself is driven by some really chunky beats and a fantastic tribal percussion line. The main feature has to be a huge techy synth which stabs out a rhythmic melody, but instead of being gritty and harsh, the sound is clean and clear and it seems to resonate which adds a perfect amount of energy into the production. There is a surprisingly calm breakdown with some nice melodic action for a breather before it turns into a frenzied climax and throws you back into the chunky beats again. Also listen out for a rather subtle acoustic style guitar playing in the background at certain points - it's clever tweaks like this which make tracks much more enjoyable. 'Chaib' has a strong party-like, outdoor festival feel to it and I think this is where it will excel. Good stuff from D&W though, this track is making me look forward to more of their productions in the future as they enhance their sound even further.
B: Otrabanda 'Otrabanda' sees D&W go for a different style of sound. We're talking deep, progressive, minimal, techno styles here. The bulk of the track is merely a small beat with a sprinkle of percussion and bass and a lot of twisted, grinding sfx. It's a bit disappointing when compared with the beast on the A side of the vinyl. There's no harm in branching out but it's not really my cup of tea.

Conclusion:
The spotlight here is most definitely on 'Chaib' here, which is a great piece of tribal tech. Keep your eyes on Divini & Warning!
