Ministry of Sound dig out early records from the Trance Nation series that once were so mighty and bring the records the series so popular.

Think back to the late nineties when Trance was the style that people were really talking about. It was in the clubs, on the television and even on the radio, come to think it was everywhere! One of the early compilation series that brought the music to the masses was Ministry of Sound's Trance Nation series. The series had what I would say were five very good volumes before it went all commercial and Ministry seemed focused on releasing crap compilations full of cheesy records. Trance Nation is back, in classic form, selecting records from the early days that made the style so popular.

The invasion of classic compilations we have had to put up with over the past few years has really in my view tarnished the 'classic' name. I don’t mind classic compilations but Cream and Gatecrasher went a bit over the top with theirs, then again they are all owned by Ministry of Sound. Enough classic bashing and onto this compilation and why I think you should buy it.

Look at the tracklist. I don’t think there is one bad record on there and certainly not one cheesy track. It's full of quality tracks from quality artists from a time when Trance had that big arena sound and definite style. Another classic compilation you say? I've heard all these before? The answer may well be yes to a lot of dance fans but for people wanting to know what good Trance music is all about the records on here provide it. They may not be mixed perfectly together or have that build up flow so many people like to see in a compilation but its one to just pick up and put on.

It's got some of my favourite old tracks on it and reminded me of some old gems that have been gathering dust in my collection. I like compilations like this that are full of decent old tracks unlike a lot which tend to bang in the commercially popular records they like to tag as Trance but wise heads know they just are not.

This is the kind of compilation to give your children who think DJ Sammy and his commercial chums count as dance music.

Conclusion:This release may be another classic compilation from Ministry but I think they have done a good job in bringing back classic tracks that made the first five original albums so popular, of course there were more than those in the series but the releases after five were nothing but garbage. A good album to remind you of tracks gone by and worth picking up.
