The first CD of 'Nightmusic Volume 2' looks ahead into the world of upfront, cutting edge trance music. It begins with The Thrillseekers awesome new single 'Waiting Here For You'. The smooth notes and calming vocals sets the perfect scene and is a wonderful start to the proceedings. The mood remains unbroken with Lange's latest offering, 'Angel Falls', which simply dazzles me with its overpoweringly subtle melodic charm. After the dreamy start, the tunes gain a dirtier (I'm trying to avoid the use of the word "electro") edge. It's not to say that things get darker and tougher - it's far too early for that - no, the tracks from here are just a bit chunkier with a stronger sense of drive.
One of the great things about this CD as it unfolds before you is the way the mood and feel effortlessly morphs. Track 6, Breakfast's 'Sunlight', slams it's authority down with a breakdown of such awesomely trancey proportions it could melt a polar icecap. Following flavour changes involve a couple of vocal tracks and then it's time to get serious with dark and dirty tunes like Marco V's new 'Possible, But Unlikely' and Rank 1's remix of Joop - The Future.
CD1 is finished off in some jawdropping style with a trio of unique yet equally powerful tracks. On the trance front we get the astoundingly beautiful 'Memories From The Future' by Robert Gitelman & michael Tsukerman, Simon Patterson's recent psy-trancey 'Stripsearch' and the impulsively moreish 'Innerstamatick from the master of tech, Stephen J. Kroos.
CD2 - minus365 01. Supermodels From Paris - Keep On (Kornytea Remix) 02. Simon & Shaker - Zero 03. Headstrong - Truth (David West Remix) 04. Delerium - Angelicus (Andy Moor Remix) 05. Filo & Peri Feat. Fisher - Ordinary Moment (Breakfast Mix) 06. Terry Ferminal - Nymph 07. Purple Haze - Rush 08. Alex M.O.R.P.H. & Rank 1 - Life Less Ordinary 09. Mind One - Hurt Of Intention (Ferry Corsten Fix) 10. Above & Beyond - Good For Me (Club Mix) 11. The Thrillseekers - New Life (Mike Koglin Exclusive 2007 Remix) 12. Markus Schultz & Departure with Gabriel & Dresden - Without You Near (Alex M.O.R.P.H.'s Sacred Light Remix) 13. Sean Tyas - Lift 14. Sander van Doorn - Punkd (Sean Tyas Remix) 15. Stoneface & Terminal - Super Nature
After the brilliant, forward thinking CD1, The Thrillseekers now take things in the opposite direction for CD2. Here you'll find a selection of tunes and anthems that have been massive for trance, and massive for The Thrillseekers. This disc starts off very easy going, deep and progressive - afterall, there's a massive range to include here. Track 6 sees Terry Ferminal's 'Nymph' spice things up with its irresistible driving rhythm. This techy section continues, featuring, quite importantly, Alex M.O.R.P.H. & Rank 1 - Life Less Ordinary, which was one of the most massive tunes from last year and which is still dominating the dancefloors today.
A bit of a mood change and we get some vocal gems, namely the inquisitively funky 'Hurt Of Intention' and the beautifully sweet 'Good For Me' from Above & Beyond. The lead out of CD2 sees some truly massive anthems wrap things up. The undeniable anthem of 2006, Sean Tyas - Lift, Sean Tyas' (again!) remix of SvD's 'Punk'd' and finally to trance things fully out at the end, Stoneface & Terminal's 'Super Nature'.
Conclusion:
As you can see - with many musical bases touched, with tracks past, present and future featured and The Thrillseekers soul warming style explored - the result is a celebration of trance and it's artists. This is a 'must-have' compilation.
