After the immense 'Face Of God', Syna returns with a follow up on the Finnish Finity Recordings imprint. If you thought the first track was good, wait until you hear this...

:: Syna - Do You Feel
:: Finity Recordings
:: FTYCDS001

1) Do You Feel (Original Version)

Featuring Syna's crisp, clear sounds and flawless production, 'Do You Feel' impresses right from the start. The bassline is energetic, lively and driving and is backed by a persistent, acidic riff which fuels the track brilliantly. The synths used here are breathtaking. Layers of thick, smooth and sumptuously perfected sound really make this shine. The break sees a great combo of a breakbeat, slight but incredibly atmospheric vocal touches and then a wonderful piano melody. The melody flows perfectly, wonderfully and beautifully, cushioned by those sweetly singing synths. Then out of nowhere, an electric guitar just takes right over and continues the melodic flow. It's a totally different sound, but it's executed with perfection, making it absolutely spot on, injecting even more harmonious energy into this already blistering track. There are many subsections included as the track progresses, but most importantly they all add up to something truly exciting, uplifting and downright incredible. This is an essential tune of 2007.

2) Do You Feel (Matti Kotala Remix)
Matti Kotala goes for a slightly softer and rounded sound here. There is still plenty of energy in the bassline and the acidic backing is still present, although in a different guise. Again the true beauty emerges during the breakdown as a synth laden section allows the piano to emerge gracefully, with the help of another soaring synth and some subtly plucked strings. These strings take the melodic lead eventually, adding to the overall feel of the smooth, gentle and soft sound.

3) Do You Feel (Allende Remix)
The Allende Remix is totally different. Deep, proggy and downtempo, most of the track lies in a sea of deep, churning basses and twisted, melodic sfx style synths. The breakdown is where the sweet synths are allowed out and the piano takes control for a short while, and is as beautiful as ever, but the the main track kicks back in with the deep, grinding basses. The core melody is still in there, but it takes a bit of getting used to.

4) Do You Feel (Lume Remix)
Slightly slower paced than the Original Mix, Lume's Remix is a much lighter incarnation of 'Do You Feel'. The bass is much more 'easy going' and there are lots of sampled vocals used in synthy effects to fill the track and generally raise the mood without overpowering anything. The lovely catchy melody is still there, but is played by a more acoustic sounding synth. A calm and mellow take on this gem of a track.

5) Do You Feel (Syna's Lost In Love Mix)
Finally, Syna puts in a fully breakbeat orientated remix. 'Do You Feel' does amazingly well in this configuration too! In between the chunky broken beats, there's plenty of space to be filled with gorgeous, deep basses, smooth pads and super-sweet string chords. There are some wonderful harmonies created between the various stringed parts and at times, the track seems almost fully orchestral. It's a beautiful, epic piece of music in its own right, which covers all the right emotional, soulful and melodic bases with great ease.

Conclusion:
For me, one of THE tunes of 2007. Lots of great mixes to choose from but the Original Mix stands tall above them all. Don't miss out on this, it's amazing.
