What do you do when the most famous trance club burns to the ground? Cash in and release a compilation. The records are excellent but I why is this reviewer disapointed by its release?
The latest Gatecrasher release comes after their Gatecrasher ONE club burnt to the ground a few weeks ago. It was a place where many clubbers can remember the energetic music and atmosphere that made the venue so popular. The venue had been host to the worlds finest DJ's and had one the best sound systems in club land. The loss of the club is huge to the local area and I for one hope they build it back again better than ever.
This compilation is a celebration of everything that made Gatecrasher good back in its most popular days and jammed with classic track after classic track. It's mixed by the original residents at the club Judge Jules, Scott Bond and Matt Hardwick.

If you were to pick up this release and have a casual look on the back the album is jam packed with quality track. It has some real gems in there with Push's 'Universal Nation', Kristine Blond's 'Love Shy' and 'Ayla' along with countless other classics. If you look at this compilation is music terms you will find nothing wrong with it at all, its full of good record after good record with mixing by real DJ's for a change rather than computer programmed mixes.
The problem I have with this release is if you have already bought the past three Gatecrasher releases, by which I mean the two classic compilations and Gatecrasher 'Forever' why on earth would you want to buy this one which more or less has the same tracks on. I don't mind a classic album, don’t get me wrong, but we seem to have been flooded for years by the big names with them. gatecrasher are a massive club brand with nights all over the world pumping out fresh new music so why not release compilations promoting that?
I may be a sceptic but if the Gatecrasher ONE club had not burnt to the ground would they have still released this compilation? The suspicions mind to me says they are cashing in on the disaster for a little bit of money here. I say this as a dance fan who has been collecting compilations for years and I'm sure I’m not the only one who gets a little annoyed at constant releases of the same records.
The good points about this release are if you are new to the scene and want to discover quality Trance music then this is the compilation for you as the tracks are superb and mixing top notch from three of Gatecrasher original spinners.
The disappointment for me is that the Gatecrasher brand seems to be banging out the same old music with each compilation and covering it in a different name. There is so much good new dance music out there, especially in the Trance genre why do they not release compilations like they did with it full of them. I would have loved to have heard the mixes by Judge, Scott and Matt being full of their current favourite tracks that entertain clubbers week in week out.
Conclusion:
The music on this compilation is excellent and the mixing is very good but after a few compilations to many from Gatecrasher similar to this I can't help but feel its a waste and cashing in on certain things, that might be just my opinion but everybody sees things differently after all. I would buy this compilation somebody who does not know what good music is but not me, even though I have for this review but it’s another compilation that sounds too much like a fair few others within it.
