Another new label is born! This time from house tinted Morgan Page who those of you who follow the underground releases that big labels don’t like to see may well know about. His own label promises to offer an unlimited range of audio possibilities.
If you have a hard time in promoting your music to labels and getting it released, what do you do? Why not start your own label up then you can release what you want. After producing a fair few remixes of some notable big chart music names and upsetting the big labels who did not take to kindly to him not having official permission for it why not turn you hand to mainstream remixes? That’s what Morgan did and is gathering a good following behind him with that momentum being the basis for launching his own label, Nuance Recordings.
His underground mixes proved very popular with his bootleg album release last year entitled 'Cease And Desist' being very well received by music fans. In there he has bootleg remixes of tracks by David Bowie and Coldplay to name just a few with the album going down well with the public but frowned upon by major labels who were un happy with the unauthorised remixes. That album proved to be a stepping stone and soon after the likes of Steve Nicks, Nelly Futado and Angie Stone banging at his door to do remixes. He also works alongside some very big labels now like Virgin, Warner Brothers and Interscope who all love his remixes. It just goes to show good can come from bootleg productions and in Morgan's case it helped fire his career into gear.
That album as Morgan states was a bit of an experiment.
"Cease and Desist started as an experiment to see how these mixes would resonant with the public. I had no idea how people would react, but my friends and fellow DJs urged me to release the album. Next thing I know - the mixes are popping up on KCRW, getting played at Coachella, and the majors are asking for remix work, "
Underground Roots
Don’t think that Morgan has forgotten his underground roots just because he pumps out remixes for the mainstream. He is as passionate about dance music now as he was when he first got hooked into it by the likes of Terry Lee Brown Jr, Swayzak and Barada. Before this new label Morgan has had releases on labels like Bedrock and SAW Recordings but the freedom of having his own label will open up a door or creativity.
The first release on Nuance is a three track EP called "Landline" with the headline track being a deep break beat house track which has featuring in the play lists of Sasha, James Zabiela, Steve Lawler, Nick Warren, Danny Howells and Sander Kleinenberg. Also out on the label is another three track LP called 'Tipping Point'. Both those releases are available right now on Beatport.
