House man Steve Lawler is about on unleash a new compilation with a two disc mix celebrating his monthly VIVA club night down in London. Get ready for some quality house.
It's been a while since we last had a Steve Lawler mix compilation. His 'Lights Out' compilations on Global Underground were my personal favourites and worth picking up if you don’t already have them. His VIVA music label is doing very well and his VIVA Harlem Nights club gig has been running for well over 6 years at London's The End venue. His last compilations simply called VIVA was released on Ministry of Sound a while ago so it’s about time he put a new one out.
Here it is, entitled VIVA London! Two discs of pure quality mixed by the man himself and packed with only the finest records currently in favour in Steve's record box. It's hard to create the kind of atmosphere you do at the club but the two discs should just about satisfy your needs.
“There’s some very exciting music out there,” he elaborates, “The hardest call was what I should leave off. I decided to put a mix together of tracks that I have been heavily supporting this year. At the night itself I play for 5 hours so re-creating the club atmosphere within the 2CDs – which is only a 2 ½-hour timeframe – was really tough, but you get the picture of how the night starts musically, what the vibe is and how it ends. Steve Lawler
Although his sets usually last that long your never there for all of it continuously unless you have the bladder the size of Japan. I'd recommend going to one of his club nights but in the meantime this two disc release should sort you out.
