The delightful duo of Ralphie B and Sander van Dien are ready to unleash the debut artist album from their 'First State' alias. Prepare yourself for some seriously good trance music.
Ralphie B is otherwise known to people as Ralph Barendse and he has been responsible for some of my favourite dance records over the years for sure. You may remember a track called 'Massive' which he produced under the Ralphie B alias and is regarded by many as a classic of its style. Those PvD fans who used to listen to his live sets back in 2002 may remember he used the track in many a set of his.
Sander Ven Dien is a producer in his own right and has remixed a few records by Ralph most notably a record called 'Amazon' on his Midway alias. The Midway name has had a fair share of excellent records with 'Inca', 'Cobra' and the amusingly named 'Monkey Forest'. One of Sanders own tracks 'Terms' is one of the few he's produced under his own name but he’s done remixes for the likes of Yarmin and Thomas Bronzwaer.
The First State project came about in 2005 when Ralph and Sander got together to produce the track 'First State' which got released on the Black Hole owned In Trance We Trust label, on one the most respected trance labels you can get music released on in my opinion. That record went down very well and became a bit of a favourite with DJ Tiesto who used to hammer it like a coked up DIY expert. After that initial success of the debut track Black Hole signed another of their records 'Evergreen' and that got the ball rolling for an album.
"The guys spent almost a year to produce their album and finished it with atotal of ten tracks that fully represent what they stand for. The setup of the whole record is one similar to a DJ set: an easy going begin that grows with housey tracks towards a nice climax with more techy productions. Of course the real trance aficionado will find what he wants:the fat trance sound that made the duo famous, complete with classical arrangements. At the same time, obvious influences of ‘regular’ house and minimal are present in songs like Falling with Anita Kelsey, which currently features on Tiësto’s successful mix compilation ‘In Search of Sunrise 6’, or the ones with Tiff Lacey and Elliot Johns. The biggest challenge for First State was to deliver an album that reflects the time in which it was made, and still delivers timeless tracks that have the power to become classics or even anthems." Black Hole Recordings
The album is ready and looks very tasty with the debut single to be released very shortly. The album contains a total of ten glorious tracks spread over the one CD.
