A remake of an old techno classic, 'Jaguar', from Cor Fijneman...
:: Cor Fijneman - Jaguar :: WL :: COR001
1) Jaguar (Original) Having not heard the classic version of this track before, the style of this one took me by surprise for a Cor Fijneman track. The only thing i could compare it with is typical Filterheadz productions, as it sports the same style of laid back beats and soft, classic synths which always remind me of chilled out summer evenings. There's also a stringed lead which fits in perfectly with the mood and style presented here, adding some much needed melodic variation. For extra spice, there is a frequent use of bit crusher sfx and also a bit of a more frenzied breakdown towards the middle of the track. Relaxing, and lovely.
2) Jaguar (Seco Remix) The Seco Remix takes very different approach. It's much faster, and takes on a rather unique hard-yet-minimal approach to tech. A tough beat and fiesty percussion persist almost constantly, only to hold back for the chilled main melody to poke through for literally mere moments at a time until it's back to just the solid beat and percussion. There is an extended melodic section in the middle, and looking at the overall structure and the extremely basic style that it gives this one, I see it as more of a DJ tool rather than a track in its own right.

Conclusion:
An interesting sound from Cor Fijneman, but you just can't deny the truly lovable summery style and feelings that the Original Mix gives out.
