Marc Vedo makes his production debut for Five AM Vibe's debut release. This sub label of the well established Five AM is said to focus on the 'clubbier' tunes out there. Mac & Mac step in for a spot of remix work...
:: Marc Vedo - Timeline :: Five AM Vibe :: FAMV001
1) Timeline (Original Mix) filled with pads, eerie sfx and intriguing melodies, 'Timeline' does a fine job of drawing you in even before it really gets things kicked off. A bouncy bassline and an ever so slightly tribal flavoured percussion keeps the track at a steady pace and allows the real synths to build whilst your attention is drawn to more quirky sfx. The main body of this one is a heavy synth part which arpeggiates around some simple chord changes. Nothing groundbreaking but it flows well and the sound remains soft and trancey throughout without getting tiresome. There are a few breakbeats which come in during the breakdowns to spice things up a bit more too. A standard yet solid trancer, although this is perfectly fitting for the label's mission statement.
2) Timeline (Vedo Vs. Mac & Mac Remix) This Vs. remix is run by a much thicker, deeper bassline and a tough layer of gutsy, stuttering synths in the background. This creates a much more forceful sound - one we'd definitely associate with Mac & Mac. A stark melody is developed in the breakdown and this gives way to an even thicker onslaught of the now razor-edged backing synths which run the show with their powerful, dominating sound. A distinct clapping style percussion is the final element which gives this piece a cheeky rhythm which allows it to continue solidly to a close.
Conclusion:
Five AM Vibe is working hard to build itself up with a growing number of releases now. They're in good stead with this first release, especially since it's a first for the label and also for its producer, Marc Vedo. Let's look to see what the future holds for this new venture...
