Flutterspark is injecting new strains of life into the tech trance sound. Here's one of its earlier releases from DNS Project...
:: DNS Project - Invisible Touch :: Flutterspark :: FSP002
1) Invisible Touch (Original Mix) This track grabs onto you right away with one of its most distinctive features - the gritty, bassy lead. Very electro inspired indeed, it chugs along with a beefy drive, helped along by a nice and pacey beat. The second distinctive feature here, and the one which I think will make this rather irresistible on the dance floor, is the addition of an overdriven electric guitar which strums out powerful, distorted chords. This kind of 'real' instrument is familiar to most people in some way or another, so tracks like these always prove to be very enjoyable and memorable. There is a slight melodic element which is used in the breakdown, but this is used simply to add contrast and for a bit of a breather before you have to continue stomping to the dirty bass which soon kicks back in!
Invisible Touch (Beat Service Remix) The Beat Service Remix sports a bigger, punchier kick, so it makes the whole production seem more driven and gives it a more purposeful feeling. The percussion sounds crisper and more defined and the bassy lead synth has also been cleaned up and given a much more clear sound. What is surprising though, is the guitar part, or more to the point the lack of. It's been completely removed. You don't actually miss it, but you can't help thinking, after hearing the original, whether this remix would've benefited from it. Still a great sounding mix though!
Conclusion:
Excellent tech trance from Flutterspark. Both gutsy tracks, the electric guitar makes the Original Mix and the squeaky clean and crisp clarity of sound makes the Beat Service Remix.
