Paul van Dyk's very own VONYC music store is to close by the end of the year and be re launched focusing on the radio broadcasting with user interaction firmly in mind. It will be a new year and a brand new concept for VONYC.
For the past three years VONYC has been a mixture of a radio station and a download store with most of the tracks played on the station being available to buy right there on the digital download store. That will all change as we head into 2008 aas the digital music sales will be closed down for good. I don’t know the reason for the closure of the digital store, obviously the [i:Vibes] store can not be solely to blame for its poor sales if that’s the case.
The current concept of VONYC is a radio station with all the singles played on it being available to buy from their database of records covering most dance music styles. In between that you have some of the worlds most popular DJ's broadcasting new mixes with fresh new music including the likes of Paul van Dyk, John Askew and Guiseppe Ottaviani just to name a few.
It will be the radio side that the new VONYC will be focusing on in the New Year with the emphasis on an extended radio program, fresh new music, more artists, mixes and competitions run on the site. I get the feeling they want to give the site a community feel and get your input on the mixes and music they broadcast on it.
They are tagging it as VONYC.com Edition 2.0 and after three years its the biggest changes to the site its seen. Although the digital store will no longer be available you can be sure to find most of the records played on the new VONYC site on our very own digital download store. No other details on what the new site will feature on it have been released and until the 31st of December you can still purchase music from the store as it will be available until then.
Your suggestions on what you would like to see on the brand new VONYC can be sent over to radio@vonyc.com. The current VONYC radio station is still in full operation but to sample the exciting new concept of VONYC.com you will have to wait until New Years Day.
