New Godskitchen albums are always a welcome sight but what happened to the constant releases of new albums with new mixes on they used to do? Who knows but before the end of the year they will be hitting you with their 'Trance Anthems'.
The word 'Anthem' does get splashed around a little to often these days for my liking. That may be to the number of compilations that the word is used on. Ministry have just release a three disc set with music featured on their compilations and in their clubs from the past 17 years ago titled 'Anthems'. That compilation is pretty good though in all fairness even though to a long standing dance fan its music you have on a fair few other compilations.
Godskitchen released an 'Anthems' compilation back in 2006 with that one focused on tracks spread outside the trance style with popular house tracks put in. This new album released, by the title anyway, is all trance. Compiling trance records from way back in the glory years of 1999 unto a collection of records from the past year that have been pretty popular. The question is though with Godskitchen having released more classic themed albums than new ones over the past few years why have they bothered to release another one? Does the dance music fan want a new classic album with only one disc being full of tracks from recent years and the rest they have already got on the previous compilations.
These style albums are a good point to offer to the dance fan who thinks Cascada is underground to put their head in the right place but to the whole community I have to think they are sick of these. Why can they not be like the Recover releases, pumping out brand new mixes full of quality new records like the Godskitchen albums of the past? So much new music, trance music two that its strange to see the big names re-releasing the same tracks just for a bit of easy money.
On the plus side the compilation does pack in some real gems over the three discs with a like sprinkling of a few of the tracks to be pretty popular this year.
