© CalmMusic artists have joined up with charity C.A.L.M. (Campaign Against Living Miserably this Christmas) to bring you a very special advent calendar in the run up to Christmas. Each day they will be giving away a free track.

Chances are you will not have heard about C.A.L.M. (Campaign Against Living Miserably this Christmas) before, I know I was not aware of it so let me fill you in with what they are all about.

Their official website explains it better than I can:

The Campaign Against Living Miserably is targeted at young men aged between 15-35. The campaign offers help, information and advice via a phone and web service. Anyone, regardless of age, gender or geographic location can call the line.

The campaign was launched as a pilot by the Dept of Health in Manchester on Dec 15th 1997, and then rolled to Merseyside, Cumbria and later Luton & Bedfordshire. In 2004 the Dept of Health announced the end of the pilot. However, those involved on the ground felt it was important the line was continued, and c.a.l.m. the charity was launched March 31st 2006 with ads on MTV and posters and billboards provided by JCDecaux, Clear Channel and Viacom across England in April and May 2006.

Working with people from the music, sport and club scenes, c.a.l.m. encourages young men to 'open up' and sort out their problems. c.a.l.m. has a strong and very real presence through club flyers, posters, beermats, gigs and in the media.

There are many reasons why young men need a campaign like c.a.l.m.. Everyone has their own life, with different interests, circumstances, pressures and problems. But men aren't supposed to talk about stuff, so it can be hard to know where or who to go for help when life gets on top of them.

The idea behind the charity is a very god one and their website offers practical and personal advice on problems that the young male encounters today. Weather it be a health problem or just something worry you the people behind at C.A.L.M. are their to help and offer advice on your problems. There are links to third parties that can help with just about every problem you can think off.

THE C.A.L.M. ADVENT CALENDER

Everybody knows that chocolate calendars are on the way out and this one is perfect way to watch the calories. The idea behind it is very simple. On each day during this month they will be giving away a free track that has been donated by a music artist. The likes of Sasha, James Zabiela and Zed Bias are just a few who have donated tracks to the calendar. It's very much a mixture in terms of music style with a bit of something for everybody. Radio 1's Annie Mac has personally recommended 17 of the tracks to be featured in the calendar.

“We’ve been given some brilliant tracks from both signed and unsigned artists. It’s a great site and real antidote to the stress of Christmas. Day one begins with one of Annie Mac’s recommendations, Dan le Sac and Scroobius Pip’s Angles. A corker of a track.”
Jane Powell (C.A.L.M Founder & Director)

Not just giving away free tracks on various days in the calendar you can watch exclusive interviews with some big names with backstage interviews recorded at this years Creamfields event just to name one. You can even watch that comedy man David Baddiel backstage at one of C.A.L.M's comedy nights run this past year. It's a great idea for a virtual advent calendar and will make more young people aware that there is somewhere they can turn to for help and advice on life's troubles.

Don't forget while your there to be generous and donate to this very worthwhile charity that has given millions of young people somewhere to turn to when things are not going good. Enjoy the tracks on the calaneder and keep checking back each day for a new track.
