The familer pumping beats of John O' Callaghan grace the i:Vibes turntables again with his new pumping trance offering 'Big Sky' with familer sounding remix by Agnelli & Nelson.
It's been a good year for John O'Callaghan. He has very much prooved himself as one of the new talents within the trance scene and produced some very fine records this year. He is a name that will only get bigger and bigger with support from the likes of John Askew and Armin van Buuren. Armin is a big fan as it shows here with his latest release on his very own Armind label. No doubt you will have heard this on his ASOT show and you can get your hands on it right now. First things first, is it any good?
:: Original Mix :: Agnelli & Nelson Remix
if you have heard this track before now you may not have had a lisen to the Original Mix as its the remix that seems to be getting all the hammer on the big playlists. The original is a ten minute journey of uplifting vocal trance with beautiful vocals from Audrey Gallagher. The leads flow very nicely with the breakdown offering a euphoric build then hitting you with the catchy vocal after a short build up to gather pace. The track is not pumping but more thumpy and progressive in its sound. Even though the track is very long in length you can easily sit through and lisen to it as it builds up with the vocal and hits you with an uplifting breakdown. What makes this track is the vocal as without that in their I don’t think it would have that hook to it.
Now then onto the Agnelli & Nelson Remix. Simple melody, female vocal with a great hook to it, where did the duo get their idea for this remix from? To be honest I think they just dug out their 'Holding Onto Nothing' track, ripped out the beat and bassline and inserted John's vocals and samples over it to create this pumping remix. It's got more or less the same beat and kick as they used with that track. Now then, as much as it if just a rip off of that track they did its an excellent remix. They have took a formula that worked very well with 'Holding Onto Nothing' and used it with the original to create a banging uplifting monster with the vocal working very well with the bass changes in the track. It's a pumping mix from start to finish and one of those tracks where the vocal really hooks you in.
Conclusion:
Great release from John here with the Agnelli & Nelson mix being the pick of the two versions on offer. For those who like their uplifting trance banging with catchy female vocals then this one is a must. Check it out in the [i:Vibes] store now.
