The second release from one of Flashover Recordings young talents P.A.F.F is coming your way soon. His debut single release was nothing short of superb and there is more of the same to be found here!
Here it is then, the second release on Flashover for the very talented Pawe³ Kasperski. His first release 'There Is No Spoon' got snapped up by Ferry Corsten who saw the talent and signed it to his own label Flashover Recordings. The style is very much new Ferry. It’s deep and dirty, with huge basslines littering the tracks. This second release follows on from the good work of his first and worth having a butchers at.
:: From King To Finch :: Shabby :: From King To Finch (2nd Mix)
The ball gets rolling with From King To Finch with is a deep hard hitting track with more punch than a heavyweight boxer. The track begins with a very agressive beat and bass line. The deep pounding thud gives you the hint this one is going to be meaty and it is! Soon after the opening flurrying of beats a riff slides in complimented by edgy kicks and snares. The riff here is gritty and bass driven with a melody sliding in from that which is high pitched but hidden a little behind all the rest of the elements of the track. It's setting up for something with changes in the riff tone as it flows along. That something comes with the breakdown. The beat cuts off the melody slides into the distance with a wave building up to the main melody which drops in the form of glittering styled strings with a touch of tech about them. Bright, fresh and wide awake it is with a short break beat build behind it. The beat comes back with the riff that begun and they all work very nicely together. Another tough but uplifting track this with the pumping deep beat and bass driven riffs.
More of the same can be found with Shabby but this track kicks up the BPM a little. The track begins with the beat, kicks and snares all working together. They cut and in bangs a deep bass driven riff with just the beat. In comes the kicks again and then in bangs another nice riff onto of the bass one. Very catchy backing riff with floating sparkles of sound over the top. It cuts into a break and your left with sparkling strings tingling into silence as a wave floats in with the melody building from the distance. The melody in the break does go pounding back when the beat comes back but cut off with the track feeding the bass riff in. The sparkling strings feed in to cut up the track as it feeds back in more catchy riffs. They build onto each other and create a very catchy element in the track. It's not to shabby this.
With the original being a little on the tough side the 2nd mix follows a more traditionally trance structure. Pumping beat, drop the breakdown and bang in the melody with the beat for that uplifting feel. The main melody in here is very sharp and the flow of the track has been done nicely. The opening beat with kicks and claps reminded me of Astrals mix of 'Cloudwalking'. It’s got that kind of vibe about it in one sense. This mix will please the uplifting trancer’s but I don’t think its as god as the tough hard pounding original.
Conclusion:
For his second ever release P.A.F.F. has come up with the goods yet again, a super tough track which will suit those who like it deep and rough. It does have its uplifting elements to that should put a smile on your face. One to check out.
