The latest edition of the Euphoria compilation series features a two disc mixed by John '00' Fleming with the added treat of his very own artist album, one to start drooling about.
The DJ Mag top 100 poll might be a load of old bollocks to a lot of fans but the addition of Infected Mushroom does tell you that the Psy/Goa style is pretty popular at the moment. The style is possible one of the most underground forms of dance music available and unless you know where to go get it chances are you have never heard it before. It's difficult to put the sound into words but its the purest form or Trance music you can find.
The Euphoria albums have been one of the longest compilations series I've known of and still going strong, their last release just before the festive period 'Best of Extreme Euphoria' mixed by Lisa Lashes sold well over 200,000 copies. They have got on the Psy bandwagon and enlisted the help of the legend that is John '00' Fleming to mix their latest release 'Psy-Trance Euphoria'. These albums tend to prop up the front of many major commercial music outlets which will surly pump new fans into the style.
John is no stranger to the Euphoria series having mixed the "White Label Euphoria" series for them which sold very well and I'm sure may well appear for another volume some day. It's good to have John mix this new compilation for them as he is well known in dance circles for being a fan of the style and should know what the hot tracks are right now.
Even better news is this release will have John's brand new artist album bundled with it. The album will be a collection of exclusive productions and collaborations including one with the top DJ in Psy today, DJ Astrix. It's one of the first cases I have known about for a compilation series to feature an artist album. It does make sense as the style of the new album goes down well with the style of the compilation.
Could this mark the start of 2008 being the year Psy/Goa Trance became known to the masses and played in local clubs across the globe? It could well be but if it doesn’t this is definitely an album to make room on your CD rack for.
Release Date: 18th February
Unlike a lot of Psy/Goa albums this one should be available in most high street stores and with it being on one of the most well known compilation brands you can expect this one to be hammered on the TV to. Expect it to be wetting your appetite in your own front room very soon.
