Do not be put off by the name or the label as Dave Pearce and Ministry of Sound have put together what may be one of the best Trance compilations this year. It's brimming with quality with one look at the back cover hinting why...

This is the second release in the Delirium series and looks to continue the good reputation the first compilation carved out. Forget all the cheesy crap Dave Pearce churns out under his 'Dance Anthems' moniker because this is Trance with nothing else added in. He has dropped some real clangers in terms of albums and played records from artists who need shooting but he does have music taste hidden under the mainstream skin. The first album proved that and this one sets it in stone.

Dance music fans have to put up with a fair bit of stick from people who think all the commercial garbage on the record store shelves represents the genre we love. The fact is that all the rubbish gives the casual listener a bad impression of dance music and steers them into the wrong side of it. Dance music has so many styles its unfair to label one bad apple the orchid. Ministry of Sound are guilty of putting a fair few crap albums on there for a start but they do make up for it with releases like this.

This compilation is just pure Trance at its finest with the latest and hottest records you can get your hands on mixed up by the marmite DJ we called Dave Pearce. Lets stop with all this classics bollocks every five months with the same records and just a few new ones on and push out new fresh music that gets played on the hundreds of radio shows going out each week. There are albums out there for sure but not that many in the public domain. This one should be sitting all shiny in most big supermarkets and record stores worldwide and with any luck should point dance fans the right way. Trance gets so much crap tagged into its style it can make your blood boil at times.

The tracks selected on here are excellent, some real gems in there and with there only being eleven or so on each disc you get a good slice of each. John O'Callaghan's 'Big Sky' may well win an award this year for being featured on the most compilations but rightly so as its an excellent track of uplifting pumping trance. One of my favourites that came out on Vandit Records this year 'Onova - Platitude' sits right at the heart of disc one with its epic uplifting build and pulsating melody. André Visior & Kay Stone - Something For Your Mind starts off the compilation as it means to go on with uplifting ness written all over it. The first disc is just a pure uplifting joy ride with the second being more tech driven but still keeping that uplifting vibe.

The mixing would be the only 'iffy' bit on this compilation if your looking to pick points but I quite like the rough nature of how Dave has blended them all together. You can tell when he's beat matching with the thuds and some mixes are just short and sharp. The no nonsense approach to putting two records together. Slide one out and slam the next in. You do sometimes get a little tired of the smooth flowing mixes that are just a little to perfect. The mixes here add something to the compilations for me, that human element as I would say Dave has mixed these on the fly for that added impulse. You could go to far as saying the mixing is crap but its not, it adds something to the compilation for me that makes it even better.

Conclusion:
The big name labels should start putting stuff like this out more often as albums like this get hug TV coverage and exposure in the big name hi-street stores. This is an excellent compilation and puts Trance to the masses in a good light. The underground might slate it but only because it’s putting quality records forward into the mainstream. Not saying this is a mainstream album of course but it will sit next to a few without question in many stores. Good work Mr Pearce! We know you have got taste it just seems to hide itself away for periods.
