An old classic gets a fresh new remix by Arctic Quest on dutch Armada imprint Captivating Sounds. Just a lick of old paint on a classic or an updated remix to cherish? Here's the i:Vibes verdict...
If I think back to trance records that got me into the music I love these days and dig out those old compilations then there is a fair chance Storm's 'Time To Burn' classic will be on there. The man behind Artic Quest is a guy called Emiel R. Ten Hoor and before this alias he was previously more popular for his releases under the 'Relic' name. The original remains un touched here and should bring back a few memories.
:: Original Mix :: Arctic Quest Remix
The Original Mix is indeed the full version that came out the first time around with that hooking vocal 'It's Time To Burn' kicking things off. It's a classic track all the way through with its aggressive nature and hard hitting main melody that buzzes through the track. There were a few remixes on the original years ago but this one by Artic Quest brings it right up to the current age.
The remix here is rather good in all honesty. The format sticks to the original but gone is the same in how the track builds up. The track starts off with a funky sounding bass kick from the main beat and leads with a bright floating melody. Great big room sound on the intro here and after a short cut from the floating build you hear a stab from the old original pop in with 'Its Time To Burn' fed in there. The main melody here is chilled by its tone and not aggressively pumping like the original. This mix is more about melodic build and creating an uplifting feel with the way the sounds blend from the background. I would say it’s not really a storm this remix more a delightfully cool breeze in the roasting hot summers sun. The odd glimpse of the samples used in the original is in there to remind you this is a remix though.
Conclusion:
It might have been a long time since you heard the original and this is the perfect release to remind you what a great track it is. The remix is good. Chilled and dreamy is the way this mix comes across with a good build up that catches the ear's attention. Worth adding to the collection this one.
