Somebody must have given Ferry Corsten a good slap round the head and that man might well have been his collaboration partner Raz Nitzan. This new record from the pair is back to the old Ferry sound Trance fans adored years ago, this one is somewhat essential...
This will be release number twenty eight for Ferry's Flashover Recordings and I would it may well be the best one yet on the label. Just the one track tat goes by the artist name Embrace and title of the same name. Just one mix and that’s the Ferry Fix mix. There is more than one reason why you should be buying this record when it comes out. Raz Nitzan has been involved with Solid Globe and Perpetuous Dreamer with one of Armins early releases 'Dust.wav'.
:: Ferry Fix
Think back to one of what I regard as Ferry's greatest tracks, 4x4 'Indigo' then have a listen to this. It's like 'Indigo' on steroids. The old Ferry sound for some was thought to be lost and never seen again but he's dug it out here and come up with one of my favourite tracks I've heard this year. The old beat is back once again with the legendary old kick that made you drool from the mouth when listening to Ferry productions. It's got a hint of the current style about it though mixed with the classic Ferry sound. The leading riff is massive. It swirls in the background and feeds in the main drive leading to the melody. Stabs that echo back cut it all and incomes what is a a huge breakdown and loud electronic gritty melody. It's fantastic and puts the hairs on your neck firmly at a stand as its drops away to get louder and pump full force into the track. That full force holds off with a short build getting louder and echo tinted beat stabs to bring it in. The track is uplifting in its simple tone changes and more pleasing to the ear than news of a lottery win. It’s very much back to the old sound for Ferry with a tint of new magic on it.
Conclusion:
This might only just be the one track but what a track! This one should please those who though the old trance sound was dead and buried or at least the old Ferry sound at least. This did remind me a lot of 'Indigo' with its sound and that’s a good thing as that was brilliant track. Embrace is a record you should be getting your mitts on as son as you see it available, it’s huge.
