The Monster label just keeps on growing and their digital arm is no exception. Up this time is a new track by Fast Distance and a remix from progster Anhken...
:: Fast Distance - Eternal Blow :: Monster Digital :: MONDIG007
1) Eternal Blow (Original Mix) Fast Distance is a trance duo comprised of Belgian producer Franz Hlusek (aka Arpegia) and French producer Oliver Picart (aka Olivier P.). After having coimpleted remixes for Amon Vision and Alter Ego, they now have their very own release on Monster Tunes' digital sublabel.
The Original Mix of 'Eternal Blow' carries a fast pace and has a welcoming feeling to is as you;re drawn in by early sweeps of synth and a lively, active bassline. The track is lead early on by light rising and falling synths and long, clear, sustained strings. An evocative chord progression is developed from within the first short breakdown and by the time you reach the main breakdown, the track is in a really pleasant and dreamy state. This second breakdown is one of the production's strongest points. From a silence comes eerie strings, and then comes some big, emotional hits and sounds, finally revealing a melody which, after a climactic build up, takes control and is used to lead the track from then on, which it does well and with ease for a good few minutes before the closing passages.
2) Eternal Blow (Anhken Remix) Anhken appeared on Anjunabeats earlier this year, then on Monster Deep and now here's another one of his efforts on Monster Digital. As you've probably guessed already this one is a much proggier interpretation. However, as you soon find out when listening, the track borrows from other styles and genres. Most noticeable is the big fat electro influenced bassline. It tears and grinds away with purposeful groove, backed by a stout beat and minimal percussion. There is a bit of a trancey breakdown halfway through which is more of an interlude really as the bassline is soon back at it. The production is filled with lots of very electro-esque bleeps, blips and squeaks plus there's also a bit of a sub-melody, lead by a simple piano. This is used well and increases the lastability of the production as without it, it may have easily lost feeling and interest from some listeners.
Conclusion:
Overall a nice release - trance fans should be very pleased with the original mix and its flowing, melodic style. Anhken's remix will appeal most strongly to the electro crowd and those looking for more a 'underarm' sound thanks to its unmistakable style of bass.
