This fresh four track EP sees Sami Saari step up from remix duties to full on production, check out these new sounds coming out from Captured Music, which are seeing support from Andy Moor, M.I.K.E, Ronski Speed & Mike Shiver...

:: Sami Saari - Sweet EP
:: Captured Music
:: CAPTURED015

Sami Saari has been around in EDM for a while. The first great success came back in 2003 with the aliases Faraway Project & Castaneda supported by lots of major trance DJs. After that, Sami found his love for house music in various forms. Today his sounds consist of twisted grooves and basslines yet we still see versatility with his use of genres which sees his releases varying from techno to progressive to electro house.

Recently Sami has been busy for Captured, remixing David West - True Love and Seth Hutton Feat. Judie Tzuke - Don't Look Behind You and now it's come round to his first EP release on the same label...

1) Sweet (Original Mix)
Built on a pounding kick and a clean, clear bed of percussive hits, 'Sweet' has extremely strong foundations from the word go. This is increased loads by a massive, rasping bassline/hook which is used to lead the track basically from the start right through to the finish. Even though this track is based quite clearly on electro-style sounds, the feeling it gives off is much more of a funky essence. This is amplified by the use of open snares and several mini-breaks where various 'funky-style' filters are implemented. When it comes down to it, this is a big, fat tune which will easily get a dancefloor grooving due to that irresistible bassline. Add to that its crisp sounds and ultra-clean production and you have a track which is sure to be highly popular.

2) Sweet (Deck Jagger Remix)
The Deck Jagger Remix sports the same substantial percussion but has a much smoother and more subtle bassline which acts in the background instead of being right up in your face. Sustained synths running in the background, along with some sweeping fx, broadens this smoother feel to cover the entire track and gloss things over with a generally more pleasant sound and feel. The funky essence is retained thanks to further developments in the bassline and those clear open ended beats. Check this one out for an on the whole (yes I know I've used the word twice already!) smoother experience of 'Sweet'.

3) Sweet (Mike Shiver & Matias Lehtola Remix)
Label honchos Mike Shiver and Matias Lehtola team up to deliver a proggy yet still quite gritty offering. The pace has been raised and there's a much more noticeable synth presence with a lead instrument playing a soft, melancholic melody and lovely smooth backing pads/voices. There's still a big bass presence in this though and that's where the 'grit' comes from. When the synths aren't leading, the bass most certainly is and it does so with strength and gusto. A very pleasing track from these established producers, demonstrating yet another aspect of their sounds and styles.

4) Sami Saari - The Punch
The finalo track on this EP is a totally separate track called 'The Punch'. This is lead by a pair of very basic things - a punchy (heheh - no surprise) beat and a bassline which, after it erupts out of nowhere, is just totally immense. I mean, it's insane - it's massively fat, gritty, powerful and just downright dirty. Expertly layered with trancey synths in the right places and some absolutely awesome breakdowns and subsequent buildups, just about every aspect of this production is monstrous! It's a serious floor rocker and I can't get enough of it!

Conclusion:
There's some quality release action going on here! If you're looking for big movers with massive grooves then check out the original of 'Sweet' and 'The Punch', else go for Shiver & Lehtola's remix which sports a gentler, progressive groove.
