Paul van Dyk released his last artist album 'In between' last year and has been on tour promoting it ever since. He had a few collaborations this time round with one of those with former one half of Nu-NRG Guiseppe Ottaviani in the form of 'Far Away'. It was for me one of the better tracks on the album and it would seem Paul wants you to make it even better.
The remix competition is born in partnership with Beatport for any budding producer of any style to come up with their own remix of 'Far Away'. The remix can take any form you like but Paul's looking for creative and innovative pieces of music to capture his ear. Unlike a lot of remix competitions this one will be voted on by the users of Beatport. You will be able to submit your tracks anytime between the 12th May and 2nd June with the tracks selection being placed on the Beatport page and up for the public vote from 3rd June until 23rd June.
This is the first ever remix competition Paul has run using one of his own tracks. There have been numerous remixes of his tracks over the years though, some good and some not so good. Beatport is a huge community full or talented producers and contests like this one open it up to the ears of one of the legends in Electronic dance music.
The winning remix will get a full release on Paul's Vandit Digital label as well as few other music producing goodies like Ableton Live 7. Runners up will also get a copy of Ableton Live 7 to no doubt perfect those production talents on.
You can download the samples available for you to put in your remix fro the Beatport portal but please note any samples that don’t belong to you used in your remix will get your track cut from the contest. All the rules are over on this page and the remixes gathered so far are listed here.
