Looking for a good mixture of fresh underground house music? Here's what your looking for with a brand new compilation mixed together by Austin Leeds and the Starkillers. It gets my thumbs up...
This one landed on my lap this week and its definitely one of my favourite albums at the moment, just for that something different from the usual. Austin Leeds and Nick Terranova (AKA the Starkillers) have mixed together some quite superb records for this new compilations on Nervous Records. The mixture here spreads about different styles but keeping it house from start to finish and is a world apart from the more mainstream albums you find sitting in HMV. The release also comes with a DVD following the pair through the nightlife scene in Las Vegas which makes for an insight into the world of clubbing in one of the worlds biggest cities.
Release Date: OUT NOW!

Only one CD in this release but its really al you need. From start to finish its 80 minutes of pure quality with fresh tracks and unlreleased mixes by Austin and Nick with a few names in there I have not come across but those house fans in the know will surly be more than aware of. Fuzzy Hair pop in with a remix of 'LA Girls', the first I've heard from them for a while. It's a bit of mad deep pulsating pumper with a sticky groove and bursts of electro bleeps throughout.
The mix begins with a deep funk vibe, deep rolling bass driven grooves that get right in your face but in a good way. It's slightly tribal in a way with but moves into more vocal house after a few tracks. The Pimp Rockers track breaks up and moves the mix into a different direction making it a little brighter. Adam K and Soha have been banging out some real beauties recently and produce the kind of tracks that not just the house scene play on. There mixes have been on Armin's ASOT as they do have a progressive feel in how they sound. There remix here sparkles with bright floating breaks of sound. The male vocal adds the finishing touch to it that should keep a smile on your face. The mix from that into Mischa Daniels's 'Disconnected' is particularly good. Very bright disco feel with this that rolls along with a stuttered whistle that comes in every 4 beats. It adds a nice touch.
They dig it back into the tribal feel after that with deeper house beats that bang away pleasurable in Ralph Falcon's 'Break You'. The 'Night Train' has been a record around since the time of Dance Zone albums on that format known as tape and has been remixed in many forms over the years. Nick and Austin's take on it here is good. It's funky and upbeat with the vocal giving it some 'All Aboard the Night Train!'. There new track featuring Steve Bertrand has been getting some radio plays of late and that leads to the piano driven 'Summerfish' to round the mix of nicely.
Conclusion:
An exceedingly enjoyable compilation from start to finish that features plenty of variety and substance to keep you interesting. The mixing is spot on as you would expect and for those of you who go clubbing around the Las Vegas scene this is what you expect to hear when they roll over there to do some gigs. Bang on house this and a great mix that I found surprisingly attractive. I'd recommend picking this one up and you can because it’s out and about right now.
