Here's a lovely track from Type on the fledgling label Real Legacy Records. Crossing the boundaries of trance and progressive, this is seeing support from Pedro Del Mar, Randy Boyer (EnMass), Manuel Le Saw and Suzy Solar to name a few. Peter Wibe and Cesju provide the remixes...
:: Type - Against The Waves :: Real Legacy Records :: RLR004
1) Against The Waves (Original Mix) The Original Mix does an impressive job of founding itself quickly - an ambiance and cool synthline emerge gracefully from the background and soon a light and compelling bassline is allowing the track to tick over nicely. The melody emerges quickly too, played by an ethereal synth which is both smooth and easy yet quite stark at times with its ghostly yet penetrating sound. What makes this track great, especially after the breakdown, is the overall feeling that it gives you. It's so gentle and flows with effortless rhythm. And the melody is fantastic - multi-layered, emotional and mysterious, its a fine composition.
2) Against The Waves (Peter Wibe Remix) Peter Wibe steps in for an electro-tinged remix. Grinding bass notes are backed by dark, moody pads and sinister stabs of synth notes. This synth softens up after the breakdown, but plays a melody unfamiliar with the original. This darkened remix isn't my cup of tea, but it's well produced and will definitely fit into some sets somewhere.
3) Against The Waves (Cesju Remix) Cesju has taken the Original Mix and worked on top of it. The bass is still there but in a refined form and the dreamy pads are still doing an excellent job of filling the background. The overall sound has been lightened and made more spacey with more ghostly, distant synths and vox fx. The absolute delicateness of this makes it seriously easy going and guarantees a blissful smile on the face of listeners!
Conclusion:
'Against The Waves' is a great tune with a warm and endearing melody at its heart, well worth a listen!
