Isn't that the message hiding in "wake up in yellow"? After all, it's about tolerance and freedom, fun and summer, and about the passion for electronic music.



Who doesn't know the saying "When life hands you a lemon, make lemonade"? Well, we're going to make a honey-yellow lemonade! A bubbling mix of beats, melodies and feelings of happiness under the sun and blue skies. The fourteenth NATURE ONE is celebrating this passionate potpourri in yellow with a world premiere: Tiësto, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, ATB and Ferry Corsten, the five greatest trance DJs in the world, will all be assembled at Pydna.



What's more, NATURE ONE is still sporting the yellow jersey of innovation, so with no less than the Belgians from "Reverze", fresh hard-style sounds will be blasting through the bunkers. And Chemnitz and Leipzig will be showing you with "Power from the East Side" just how they power-party in the states of Eastern Germany.



The sun – it shines yellow. The summer – it is yellow. Even the moon glows yellow over the golden cornfields of the rolling Hunsrück hills. And even if it were to pour down – so what? After all, wellington boots are usually yellow too.

OPEN AIR FLOOR

All the plan­ning, lay­out and cal­cu­la­tions get go­ing months in ad­vance. Then it's all binned and we start from scratch again. It's not ex­act­ly easy to fac­tor in all the cri­te­ria in­volved in de­sign­ing the Open Air Floor. It needs to look high­ly dis­tinc­tive, to cre­ate an ex­pe­ri­ence, and to be dif­fer­ent each year. The light, LED, laser and video tech­nolo­gies have to be merged in­to a sym­bi­ot­ic uni­ty. Struc­tures can be built up to ten me­tres high with alu­mini­um, but af­ter that on­ly with steel. Don't for­get the wind load, ei­ther! And what will the struc­tural en­gi­neers say? Will the safe­ty stan­dards au­thor­i­ty give their ap­proval? It's got to be wa­ter­proof be­cause you nev­er know if it might rain. The all-​im­por­tant fac­tor is the sound – full, pow­er­ful and at the same time as clear as a cold moun­tain stream. Paul van Dyk, Tiësto, Armin van Bu­uren and Fer­ry Corsten – the best trance DJs in the world – will not ac­cept any­thing less. But they know the Open Air Floor so they know their ex­pec­ta­tions will be ful­filled, and even sur­passed.

THE CENTURY CIRCUS

Raise your arms and feel a bar­rage of pul­sat­ing rhythms burst over you. Ex­pe­ri­ence how the nee­dle vi­tal­izes the vinyl, trig­ger­ing a mu­si­cal in­fer­no which is greet­ed by thou­sands cheer­ing eu­phor­i­cal­ly. Un­con­di­tion­al sur­ren­der fu­els these flames and soon they surge to a mu­si­cal con­fla­gra­tion. This is where fiery tech­no meets high­ly in­flammable ela­tion head-​on. Min­i­mal, tech­no and hard tech­no send out show­ers of sparks kin­dling ev­ery­one's smoul­der­ing pas­sions like dry wood. The in­com­pa­ra­ble sound of Cen­tu­ry Cir­cus will trans­form the cir­cle in­to a melt­ing pot, which cru­saders like Carl Cox, in­no­va­tors like Chris Liebing and rhythm wiz­ards like Dave Clarke will feed with a mul­ti­plic­i­ty of styles. Fam­i­ly pho­to in the House of House pre­sent­ing Na­ture­One 2008! The Dis­co Boys in patent-​leather shoes, Do­minik Eu­l­berg in hik­ing boots, Milk & Sug­ar in chic out­fits. Lützenkirchen bleary-​eyed (he's been awake for 3 days) and Ba­bor with his face as red as a beet­root (tem­per­a­ture run­ning at 56 de­grees). Some­how it doesn't make a vi­su­al­ly ho­mo­ge­neous pic­ture. How should it? There's hard­ly any style of mu­sic that com­bines so many ten­sions and con­trasts as house mu­sic. It's re­laxed yet ex­cit­ing. Ex­u­ber­ant­ly ex­pres­sive hymns are just as much a fea­ture as min­i­mal­ist, cool frick­el tracks. House is the sound track for a hot date – and for a ruth­less­ly mind-​blow­ing blast. And for a cigarette af­ter­wards.

It's as if you were en­ter­ing a more or less by­gone world. Back to the days when West­bam an­nounced the rave com­mu­ni­ty. "Peace, Love & Uni­ty" we called out to our­selves in colour­ful point­ed caps – and meant it to­tal­ly se­ri­ous­ly. Back to the days when Marusha talked about Rav­e­land and Sven Väth warned us in the club night not al­ways to ask for "Das Boot". Back to the days when the first del­i­cate rave seedling start­ed tak­ing root and de­vel­oped in­to a huge tree with dozens of boughs and branch­es all over the world. Back to the days when some­thing awe­some was cre­at­ed with Bon­zai. A time in which Tom Wax pro­claimed what our fu­ture is. It was the time which saw the gen­e­sis of elec­tron­ic mu­sic. Back in those days it was a fan­tas­tic time – and it will nev­er die. The hymns of yore will be cat­a­pult­ed in­to the 21st cen­tu­ry here to pass on mu­si­cal mem­o­ries from one gen­er­a­tion to the next. To­day. It's the clubs' anniversary – they've been coming to NATURE ONE for ten years now. Indispensable elements since 1998: Stammheim, Airport from Würzburg and the Saarland Party Posse around Cassius. Things got international in 2000 with "Energy" from Zurich. The largest party after the Street Parade, as everyone knows. Now original again – back in the indoor stadium. You've got to have fresh momentum too: Reverze, Belgium's largest "harder style" event will be appearing for the first time with a knockout line-up consisting of jump style, tekstyle and hard style. And the leaders of the techno league in Eastern Germany will be coming with "Power from the East Side" for the opening of their new Chemnitz/Leipzig offshoot in the Hunsrück. Thanks clubs for the parties we've had together over the last 10 years – and here's to the next ten!
