Young UK producer Andy Tau lands his first release for Monster Force with 'Revelations'. Up and comer Anhken is on remix duty...
:: Andy Tau - Revelations :: Monster Force :: FORCE022
1) Revelations (Original Mix) 'Revelations' is a sturdily forged piece of quite 'tough' trance. It doesn't hit you as being as forceful as previous Monster Force releases, but there's a massive amount of solidarity created by the clean cut kicks, rasping bass and the enthusiastic lead synth. It's quite a lengthy track with lots of lead action - 2 breaks and 2 'main' passages - and it's around the lead which the production heavily revolves. The synth plays a rather undulating cross between a hook and a melody, keeping good levels of both rhythm and flow. Aside from the fact that it can get a bit samey, it's a decent enough track.
2) Revelations (Anhken Remix) I was quite surprised to see Anhken putting in a remix for a Monster Force release! The result is definitely interesting. As you'd expect, the pace is lower, but this time the track is led by a monsterously gritty, ripping bassline. Aside from the breakdown halfway through, where you get to hear the lead from the Original Mix, this one is veryt chunky and progressive in nature. This results in something almost like electro dressed as tech trance. It's odd, but pretty damn dirty, so give it a listen!
Conclusion:
This release could be taking Monster Force in a new direction, or is it a one-off? Only time will tell. These don't break any new ground but the Anhken Remix is something especially dirty for those who like it so.
