Super8 & DJ Tab are back on Anjunabeats and bring to you one of my favourite records I've heard this year. Uplifting big room melody action with a quirky remix by Bart Claessen and Dave Schiemann. One to definitely check out...
The double team that is Super8 & DJ Tab are back with a brand new release called 'Elektra' on Above & Beyond's Anjunabeats label. It's a label that has always been know for releasing uplifting trance music fit to be in an art gallery and it now into its century of releases. One Hundred and nine in the cateloge is this superb release from the duo who brought you 'FIrst Aid', 'Suro' and one of my personal favourites 'Helsinki Scorchin'. You may well have heard it if you have been enjoying Paul van Dyk's recent sets and if you have not you should be.
Release Date: OUT NOW on Promo 12"
:: Original Mix :: Bart Claessen & Dave Schiemann Remix
You can tell if a record is going to go down well when you put on a compilation and it stands out like a hippy buying champagne in Harrods. I first heard the original version of this way back at Gatecrasher's Summer Sound System in Paul van Dyk's set. At the time I had no idea what the track was but when having a butchers at his Cream Ibiza compilation there it was. The opening of this track has a real punch to it with a clear crisp beat setting the tone. The build up uses bass driven pads and a male vocal sample morphed into a sound for effect that works really well. The background swirls and bass rhythm rattles the ear drums. Stutters fade out and a short sparkling pre melody string plays building up the tempo. The track breaks and the atmospheric echo slides away to introduce a piano style string that plays while the beats start to build from the distance. The melody reaches a peak and boom! Back come the beat with all the layers working together to create a real uplifting feel. This kind of track just makes you feel good and on a big system it hits you like a brick wall.
The remix is a real variation to the uplifting original and is a dual effort from Bart Claessen and Dave Schiemann. The style with this is tech with the uplifting melody fed into the mix. The opening part of this remix reminded me a bit of Mauro Picotto's style. That may be because I've been listening to his new album for most of the past week but you would not find this mix out of place if he dropped it in his set. The lead up has that 'wet' sounding feel to it and stabby pads pumping away and a quirky lead riff that fits in nice. The sounds all break away after that though with the melody being fed on top of a background sythn orgy but just when you think its going to break in fully it cuts and goes back into its tech element. The melody is gone for now you just know it’s going to come back and it does as the sharp pads beat up and drop off to re-introduce the melody. It's here for good this time and plays out until the beats start to break again.
Conclusion:
Ever since I found out what this record was called I've been gagging to get my mitts on it. It's another brilliant piece of uplifting music from Super8& DJ Tab that’s complement by a tech driven remix for that something different. Good stuff!
