David Guetta takes time out from doing his hair to bring you the next instalment of his 'F*** Me I'm Famous' mix series with two discs of fresh new house. He's very popular on the house scene these days and here's why...

David Guetta is a French born dance music producer who has been making a very good name for himself over the past few years with his house productions and mixes. He's played all over the globe at some of the biggest dance clubs and festivals on the planet. His smooth blend of sexy electro edged house goes down well with those who like their electronic music. He's had a few more commercially successful releases like 'Love Dont Let Me Go' and 'The World Is Mine'. He is back on the shelves this summer with a follow up to his 'Fuck Me I'm Famous' compilation series which was first released back in 2006.

He's a familiar face two with almost playboy long blonde hair and if you spotted him in the DJ booth you could well mistake him for a DKNY model. He is a DJ though and a pretty good one at that to with his sets a mixture of upfront cheeky house with some more mainstream flavours mixed in. I've not heard that much off his DJ stuff since Sensation 2006 where he spun a very good set at the all white Dutch dance festival. Two years on since that and the first volume of this series and he's back with volume two.

The first thing you always look at with compilations is the tracks. You can usually spot a good or bad one from the names on the back cover. Thankfully looking on the rear of this release the play list is full of respected producers in the house music style. You can expect some seriously deep groovy electric house from spread over the two discs. Some might call it Funky House but I wouldn't as a fair bit of that can be a bit cheesy in its sound.

The first discs is what I think are a collection David's current favourite house gems with the likes of tracks from Funkagenda's What The Fuck that plugs its main vocal from a fatboy Slim record. The excellent Felix Da Housecat's 'Radio' is in there with its bright sparky riff that’s electric guitar driven in parts with the main riff being very electric. The mix starts off with the funky little 'Tomorrow Can Wait' which was a collaboration with Chris Willis and Tocadisco. Riff of the day goes to Sharam's 'The One' which has got a deep pulsating bass groove that should rip any speaker to shreds. The only dodgy bit of that record is the rather puffy vocals by Daniel Bedingfield that just pop in from nowhere. What was Sharam thinking when they got him to sing the vocals for that, too many Budweiser’s I feel. The pumping bass groove makes up for it though, its just mind blowing and shouts to be played loud. Hit the mute when old Danny boy starts singing though as some people might thing you've come out the closet. The whole mood of the first disc is very much massive electro induced riffs with some having a bit of an acid flavour like in David Guestta's super 'Jack Is Back'. It's a great way to kick off a compilation and warms you to play the second disc.

The second disc is quite different from the first and is more of a full free flowing house set you may well expect to hear at Mr Guetta's live gigs. The tracks are longer and less of them with it being more a DJ mix full of uplifting house in parts and deep relaxing grooves in others. The new update of Fragma's Tcoa's Miracle is in there for good measure with Inpetto on the remix. That’s been pretty much in the mainstream this summer with it having a few radio plays on the more commercial stations I've heard over here in the UK. The record's great though and Inpetto's style suits it. The Frenchmakers 'Miracle' features the lovely vocals of Andrea Britton who you might remember from a few Trance records from DT8 and Lost Witness. I don’t know why the track appeals as you could say it’s a b it cheesy in a way but I juts like it, gives a very uplifting feel. The back end of the mix flows more towards progressive funky style of house. One track that has been doing the rounds with all the house jocks at the moment is remix of Underworld's 'Ring Road'. Am I the only one who thought that track was the worst one of their last album and why anyone would want to remix it is just mind boggling. It just reminds me of the Streets style of music which is, in my humble opinion a load of bollocks. It’s just rambles about nothing important over dull music, if they have any with it that is. Still the remix is just about bearable and does not degrade the disc at all.

Conclusion:
Those who think David Guetta spends more time doing his makeup and ensuring his hair is spot on than he does mixing good music are very miss-informed. The change in the two discs is very refreshing and I'd say the first one is better than the second. It's very much two different styles of house though, one a track fest of great music with the other a full flowing club style mix. Good stuff this Mr Guetta and worth picking up.
