There are hundreds of DJ polls but one that every major DJ in dance music today wants to be high up on is the annual DJ Magazine Top 100 Poll. It's back again and voting is now open...
I'm sure your mail box has already been full of newsletters from artists you don’t normally get asking you to place your vote in this year's DJ Magazine Top 100 poll. The magazine has been running the Poll since 1997 where its readers voted Carl Cox the best DJ in the world. With the spread of the internet and awareness over the poll it sees more people vote on it each year. Last year saw a record number of people vote in the poll that saw Dutch Trance master Armin van Buuren reach the number one spot.
Last years poll was not without its problems as certain DJ's and their promotional team's had a crack at rigging the votes in an aim to push them further up the chart. Christopher Lawrence was one of the major DJ's caught up in the mess by a dodgy PR company rigging votes for him. Vote rigging has been widespread in the poll for many years and just something that never seems to be stamped out. There will always be cheaters but I'm sure this years vote will catch those out.
This years poll is now open for voting with the ballot closing on the 24th September. DJ Mag will be hosting a party on the 29th October in London to crown this years best DJ in the world, as voted for by the dance music public.
LAST YEARS TOP TEN
1: Armin Van Buuren 2: Tiësto 3: John Digweed 4: Paul Van Dyk 5: Sasha 6: Above & Beyond 7: Carl Cox 8: Ferry Corsten 9: Infected Mushroom 10: David Guetta
HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR VOTE
Submitting your vote could not be easier. Head over to the DJ Mag site and enter your top 5 best DJ's from the last year. Your nominations can be any DJ of your choosing but you must submit your top 5 and only submit your vote once. Multiple voting by the same person will be disqualified. All the details you need to enter are you e-mail address and name. Voters will be sent conformation of their vote by e-mail and given a free download from Trackitdown which are sponsoring this year’s poll.
It's as easy as that but remember no cheating, no scripts and no voting for the likes of DJ Sammy or Cascada.
