Friday nights on UK based station Radio 1 is a solid 12 hours of dance music shows but the format is changing with two notable departures from the schedule and one very mouth-watering new addition...
BBC Radio 1 is one of the biggest radio stations here in the UK. It's well known for its weekend full of dance music based shows for years that shifted towards Friday nights with a new line-up put into operation last year. Fergie once had a very popular dance show years ago as did Seb Fontaine when Saturday night used to be a dance specialist night. Saturdays are all rap in at the moment with Radio 1 kicking Friday off with Pete Tong's Essential Selection and rolling into the wee hours until day break.
It's all changing again though as Radio 1 bids farewell to Eddie Halliwell and Dave Pearce, who departs after 13 years at the station with his 'Dance Anthems' radio show. Eddie is looking to put hus full efforts into his DJ schedule with changes at the station not being to his liking. Dave Pearce moves on with Judge Jules taking his 11pm - 1am slot. He said he is working on other radio projects so I'm sure he will return to the airwaves in some form or another.
One of Radio One's 'In New DJ's We Trust' talents gets moved to Friday nights with Hard Dance specialist Kutski slipping into the 1am - 3am slot. It just goes to show that the Harder side to dance music is getting stronger and stronger with Kutski being moved up from his previous monthly radio show on Thursday mornings.
The new changes will take place from the start of October.
