German House man D.O.N.S. is at it again with his classic remakes and it's an old Erick Morillo 90's classic to get the rework treatment this time. The clue to which 90's dance hit is all in the title...
Today’s chart dance music just doesn’t seem like it used to be back when I was playing hide and seek in the early nineties. It's all very cheesy these days and in the cases of a few popular hits to grace the top 40 charts a complete disgrace. You can always turn back time to the good days of pop friendly dance music by digging out an old Dance Zone Level etc compilation. The German house DJ that is known as D.O.N.S. seems to do that quite a lot judging by the number of 90's dance hits he has put his rework magic wand to.
The tough and edgy classic by Kadoc called 'The Night Train' got D.O.N.S. remix treatment with Pacha Records UK signing that one to their books. He also did a remake of a late 90's dance hit by Technotronic with him giving their funky 'Pump Up The Jam' record the D.O.N.S. treatment. That was way back in 2005 with the record becoming the 'track of the Winter Music Conference 2005'. He even did a remake for Inner City's dance hit 'Big Fun'.
The next 90's victim to have its glory restored is an early dance track masterminded by Erick Morillo under the 'Real To Real' guise with D.O.N.S. giving 'I Like To Move It' a fresh sound for 2008. The original was released way back in 1993 with a classic 90's dressed black man bellowing out the words to a ripping bass riff (Refresh your memory here). I'm sure with a track that has been given the green light by Erick Morillo it will be a tasteful update of a forgotten dance gem and sure will follow with a music video, although I wonder if they will get the same guy that did it the first time round to feature it in for that old style flavour.
The release date is yet to be confirmed but expect this one to drop very soon on the legendary Strictly Rhythm Records label. Get ready to move it....move it and I’m sure buy it...buy it.
