Check out this interview with the multi-talented diva, Eva Diva...!

EVA*Diva*- English-Greek Cypriot, composer, songwriter, singer, entertainer, model, promoter, dancer, psychic, member of Nia (spirit dance & Yoga) and born in Great Britain. She has a worldwide career which has seen great success. She started her career in London 4 years ago when she was discovered by famous producer John Themis. During her first steps she worked together with John Themis, Chaz Kkoshi and Jimmy Sharika and together they created 6 great songs with an instant success in Great Britain and within a very short period of time every famous club in Ibiza was playing her music. People started asking and requiring information about this wonderful girl with the face of an angel and the sweet voice. She posted a few of her songs on the net, some info about her life and music and some photos of hers. The website had so much acceptance by her fans and by the world of music that in an instant around 10,000 people from all over the world had become her fans, signing their names and supporting her on her website and supporting her to continue with her music. In all that explosion of acceptance and recognition 2 famous DJs and Producers, Angel Anx and Alexsij, asked her to work with them and flew her to Slovenia where they created a song called ‘Free Your Mind’ with Eva’s lyrics and voice. When the song was posted on Eva’s website and released in a few radio stations, just to check the reaction of people and evaluate the feedback, the acceptance of the music world and the people was so immense that offers to work with famous people and live performances became part of her everyday schedule! ‘Free Your Mind’ was playing in clubs all over the world (and was released in stores back in October last year7) before anyone realised what and how everything happened. The most famous clubs of New York, of Hollywood, of Barcelona, of Ibiza and clubs all over the world began to play this track all the time and famous DJs and producers asked to remix the song. At the same time ‘Free Your Mind’ was voted as No.1 Hot Hit in the clubs of USA. As a result Eva has frequent contact and support with people like Jam_el_mar, Jam & Spoon, Chart Breakers, Bodyrox, DJ Quicksilver, David Morales, Tiesto, David Guetta, Roger Sanchez, Peter Presta, Eric Entrena, Danny Torrence and Luciano Pardini. The CD-single of ‘Free Your Mind’ is now released by Tested Records, including 3 remixes by famous DJs and producers Jay Cox and Luciano Pardini.

i:Vibes: Eva, how are you? Thanks for taking some time to speak to i:Vibes. How has your summer been? What have you been up to?

Eva Diva: Hi it’s a pleasure - thank you! Well as you know I have been very busy flying back and forth to Germany making many songs wit producer Jam el Mar. It’s been hard work, but I am so honoured to work with him. I love his music and I am a big fan, and it’s a dream come true. I have even had the time to spend with my family here in Cyprus on the beach and with my friends clubbing… But I have been focusing on one thing in my mind and that’s to get a deal with Jam of course and we will!

i:Vibes: You were born in England. What was your childhood like?

Eva Diva: Yes that’s right in London, I miss it there. My childhood was okay and my parents were very hard workers. I always carried a portable stereo since I was 6 on my swing listening and singing to music in the garden. That’s what I did everyday and I was connecting with the nature and all creatures great and small, not quite normal but still it wouldn’t make me realise and appreciate many things now since I had everything as a child but enjoyed to be alone listening to music whistling back to the birds.

i:Vibes: When did you realize that you wanted to be a singer?

Eva Diva: In my 20s I was at a friends house and she asked me to sing. I always knew I could sing, but never took it that seriously. I guess my family never understood about things like that and never sent me to music school when I was young. My parents left Cyprus because there was a war and they were working hard to make sure we had everything, and one day I got discovered by John Demis. I had a demo of ‘Fever’ which I sang that my friend/producer Jimmy wanted me to do and then I took it with me to London. I was so happy and at my friends house was John Demis and he said “Lets make an album!” so I did!

i:Vibes: Who were your early musical inspirations?

Eva Diva: Simon and Garfunkel - Bright Eyes always made me cry as a child. Whitney Houston, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Wham, George Benson, jazz music... My big sister was a big influence on me in the 80s and would always drag me to get autographs of artists like the Heat Wave Loose Ends. We would always sing to wham, lol!

i:Vibes: If you could sing a duet with any singer in the world, who would you like to do it with and why?

Eva Diva: I think it would have to be George Michael because he is and was a big inspiration to me and also from my country. And I think it would be cool to do that! Also Eminem, lol, I love to rap too! Did I tell you?? Yea, and the bad attitude!!

i:Vibes: What was the first record you bought?

Eva Diva: It was ‘Bad’ by Michael Jackson - I actually requested it from a friend when I was about 8.

i:Vibes: John Themis discovered you. What was the most important thing you learned from him?

Eva Diva: I learned from the wonderful John how I should always be grounded and strong and not to sell myself cheap. The music industry is not so glamorous at all. He is so great that he discovered me and it all happened so fast. He was a great song writer for the spice girls and many many more artists.

i:Vibes: Eva Diva is a very catchy and appropriate name for you. Did this name take long to develop or did you always know you were a diva in the making?

Eva Diva: HAHAHAHA so funny you are! Well I have always been told by my friends that I am a Diva, but my sister actually said “Why not call yourself that?” and then my fans here started to call me that on MySpace. It’s always been Diva or Cleopatra (as I am from the middle east and have black hair etc.) so I chose Diva, lol!

i:Vibes: ‘Free Your Mind’ was kind of your breakout hit which you produced with Angel Anx and Alexsij in Slovenia. What was it like working with these guys and besides giving your voice, could you participate in the writing of that track?

Eva Diva: I was the one who wrote and composed ‘Free Your Mind’ and I wrote the lyrics in one day and composed it in about a week and then sent it to the boys and flew there. The funny thing was that it took only half an hour and I just left hahahahah!!! I’m serious! But they are very serious and great with their work. Respect to Angel Anx and Aleksij. Our new track ‘Hands Of Time’, that I also wrote and composed, is coming soon too! I am waiting for Angel to send it to me, oh and also I had been blessed with Jam el Mar to remix it too, so keep an ear out for that.

i:Vibes: What do you think made ‘Free Your Mind’ so special that it would become so hot in all the famous clubs in the world?

Eva Diva: I think it was the fact that I was so damm pissed off in my room one day about personal issues, and I felt I wanted to be free so I wrote it all in words. And people want to feel free so we got to keep on grooving! And also the music is great and how it builds up - ok and my voice hahaha!! Also may I add that is the track Jam el mar heard and fell in love with my voice so there you go!

i:Vibes: You have been working together with Jam el Mar since last year. How did you meet him?

Eva Diva: Ahhh Jam El Mar... Well like I said I sent him my song ‘Free Your Mind’ and he sent it back and said that he loves the colour in my voice so I flew there and for a year we have been working non stop.

i:Vibes: You guys are working on an album. What kind of style will it be?

Eva Diva: Oh my we made so many different styles, it all depends what song will get signed first then I guess we will follow into that direction, but I am like my producer I like to make different songs, but pop I guess.

i:Vibes: Jam el Mar is a perfectionist in the studio. What was it like working together with this legend in the studio?

Eva Diva: Well he is very strict. If I can say he is the best in guiding me and directing me to make the voice come out better. He is patient and teaches me very well. Its been fun and very rewarding. He is a funny man!!!! I love the accent Jam!! xx

i:Vibes: Is there a memorable story you have about Jam el Mar?

Eva Diva: Many, many stories but I don’t think I can say!

i:Vibes: ‘Night To Remember’ is a funky song that could work well in a club or on radio. What was the inspiration behind this track?

Eva Diva: We wanted to make a song that would work on every format where we could have easy edits for the dance floor and also good edits for airplay.

i:Vibes: “Servant Of Your Heart” is another well produced track. Were you ever present when Jam was fooling around with the sounds or did you just come and lay down the vocals when needed?

Eva Diva: No No I was at home and this melody came to my mind, so I phoned Jam and sang it to him and then a songwriter chose that melody, came and wrote it with me and composed it. Then Jam put the music together. This song has a lot of meaning to me, in fact they all do!!!! But ‘Servant’ came to me from Heaven! I am always next to Jam on the sofa listening and he likes it when I tell him to add or not too. We make a great team at work!!

i:Vibes: ‘Sexy Cat’ is a cute song. Whose idea was it for this track? The lyrics are really clever especially since it is not often that you hear the name of an artist like Jam el Mar in the lyrics...

Eva Diva: Hahahaha! It was Jam’s music and our songwriter Mary. She looked at my page and thought that Jam el Mar goes so well with it - its all true what the song says!

i:Vibes: What is the most important thing for you as a singer?

Eva Diva: I just want to sing my emotions through my music and show the people love that’s all. I want to give out as much love as I can and to make them feel they are not alone and to make them happy and feel loved. This is my aim.

i:Vibes: You spent quite some time in Frankfurt, Germany. What is your impression of German culture?

Eva Diva: I think Germany is a beautiful country and so romantic too, where people are very well mannered and clean and care for the planet. I noticed there is lack of temperament. I mean can you imagine me there everyone looks at me, lol! I am sometimes very wild. But at first they are afraid, but then they love me. When I am away I feel empty. I love it there so much. I love the people and I made soooooooooo many friends.

i:Vibes: The better half of Jam el Mar, Mark Spoon, passed away in January 2006. You have formed an In Memoriam page for Mark Spoon on MySpace which is a really beautiful gesture. Did you know him? He seems to have touched your heart!

Eva Diva: Oh my this is such a sensitive subject. Well it all began when me and Jam were at a party. Can’t say more but it was when I first went to meet Jam to work, and then he said “You’re just like Mark Spoon!!”. Then the phrase “You’re just like Mark” was almost an every day thing. I am the only singer friend of Jam that reminds him of Mark. One time we were eating ice cream and he said “Omg you stir it like Mark!”. You see I love to stir my ice cream like a milk shake.
I know what people are thinking now “Oh Jam misses Mark.”. It’s not that! I am so like Mark I have done my research too. And I remember that Mark has visited me in energy form on many occasions before I went to meet Jam face to face. Yes it does sound strange, but it’s the truth and look at my page and my photos - I am street wise gangster chick style.
Look at all the Jam and Spoon photos. Mark was gangster style and Jam is posh and different. It is the same with Jam.
Mark always sends me messages to Jam all the time. Even Jam says it makes sense.
He started pointing out all the things that were the same and they are never ending. I believe Mark sent me for a reason and I will do all he directs me to do!!

i:Vibes: I am sure Jam has said that Marks spirit is still in the studio when you’re making music. Jam & Spoon were one of the founders of early German Trance. How strong is the spirit of Mark today?

Eva Diva: Mark is very strong and never will ever die. He has sent me to show Jam nothing has ended even now. I talk - I don’t know if it’s me or Mark - and we have also had experiences with Jam when we felt Mark was with us. I can’t say much more, but it’s serious to us and deep. I am the chosen one. I will never leave Jam’s side and I have promised Mark .

i:Vibes: What is the most important thing that you have learned from Jam el Mar?

Eva Diva: Oh my many many things. I learnt how to better my voice thanks to Jam. He sent me to a famous singing coach and I never let him down. I passed all my classes. I am very thankful to him. We are very different, but seem to make so much nice music like him and Mark. I learnt to be more calm. I learned to eat the posh way hahahahahaha! I learned to cook so well, in fact I think it was Mark that was teaching me in the kitchen and I never stopped to ask Jam! I learned so much during my vocal sessions. He is fantastic!

i:Vibes: You name quite a few professions. How serious a psychic are you?

Eva Diva: Very serious. I experienced many things of the paranormal as a child then it stopped and started again when I met Jam.

i:Vibes: Where do you see yourself in ten years?

Eva Diva: I see myself in the studio with Jam of course and being happy and enjoying the success we deserve!

i:Vibes: What are your five all time favourite tracks?

Eva Diva: Set Me Free (Jam & Spoon Remix)
David Morales - Needing You
Madonna She Is Not Me
Everything But The Girl – Missing
Dido - White Flag

i:Vibes: What are your hobbies?

Eva Diva: Yoga and I even got Jam into it! Hahahahhahah!! I love making demos on live 7 and I love to go out to meet my friends. I have a driver too (so did Mark). But most of all, cooking, and singing!

i:Vibes: What three things would you take on to a deserted island?

Eva Diva: Hehe! Champagne, a PC and...????? I can’t answer the third.

i:Vibes: Eva, thanks for the interview and good luck in the future!!!

Eva Diva: The pleasure is all mine xxx
Peace and love
Fight for your dreams
Express yourself
Don’t matter what people think do what you want
Never give up & peace out
Eva Diva xxxx
