After a summer of live gigs the Prodigy have been working hard on new material for their next artist album - the good news is that the album is finished, the bad news is your going to have to wait until next year to hear it...
You can't really slot the Prodigy into any real dance music genre as there tracks have covered a range of styles over the years they have been producing music. It is safe to say that their early releases were the best and stronger than a lot of their recent new material. Over the past few years they have released various B-Sides, remixes, re-presses, re-release and classic tracks not featured on albums released years ago.
They have been back on the road all throughout this year and given festival fans a real treat with their energetic live shows, one of which I attended and was not disappointed. It's a different experience bouncing along with thousands of over Prodigy fans than putting one of their CD's on in the car. They have not just been content playing their old classics as they have been working on new material. Not just that but the new productions will be going into their next artist album called 'Invaders Must Die' which is now finished.
"THE ALBUM IS DONE. we r all so buzzed about it . it is called INVADERS MUST DIE as you probably know by now ! .11 tracks. its a band album mostly so we can play all the tunes live if we want. didn’t want to have any guest vocalists on this record even though we did do 3 collabs but they didn’t feel part of this record -- they may come out later. dave grohl plays on run with the wolves, what a top lad he is.
He approached me and we pulled that tune out the bag at last minute, fast ferocious tune with evil big electronic riff with keef on vocals. i also got james from 'does it offend yo yeah' in to do a bit of additional production on a couple of tunes .i met him at gatecrasher and he basically told me he was a fan and had been trying to rip of my sound for years , fukin hilarious . geezer ,great to work with. warriors dance is on there sounding massive in its final form . got lots of other beats and pieces left over including a couple of live tunes i know people buzz off so the plan is to put that shit onto an additional disc that will be part of a box set or deluxe -not sure yet but those beats that didn’t make the main album need to break out." Liam Howlett
It's the first time since their brilliant Fat Of The Land album, released way back in 1997, that Liam Howlett, Keith Flint and Maxim (Keith Palmer) all feature on a Prodigy album. The new album will be released on their own imprint 'Take Me To The Hospital' on the 3rd March next year. It's a long time to wait but I'm sure it will be worth it. Following on from the album release they will be touring the UK during April at nine venues climaxing at the Wembley Arena in London on the 17th April.
