Jochen Miller's latest release on High Contrast Recordings is out and about right now. Two brand new tracks worth getting your hands on. Packed with flowing melodies to warm up the chilliest of days...
He's the guy who brought you uplifting epics like 'India' and 'Lost Connection'. He also teamed up with fellow Dutch resident Rank 1 for the electric guitar driven 'And Then' which was nothing short of superb. Jochen Miller returns once more with a brand new release on High Contrast and they are two of his best produced records so far.
:: Eclipse :: 9 Minutes
I'll start with what I imagine is the flip side on this release Eclipse. There have been elements in Jochens previous productions that really caught my ear and he's done it again with this one. The feeling you get with it is bright and energetic and a sparkling electric melody that sits out and hits you head on. The start of the record is deep with bass rumbling from the background building the track up. It's always a bit dark the way it begins but the punch on the kick indicates it’s not a simple deep dark progressive bore. The melodies in here are fantastic, really fresh and awake. The main meat in here filters out the lead then bangs straight in with the main melody. Panning from left to right without you knowing then building with chord changing stabs this one really works.
Its a real side of two styles with this release as the feeling you get with 9 Minutes is very different. Not surprising by the name of the track this one foes go on for a full nine minutes. Its a very pleasurable nine minutes at that two. The style in here is gritty with a flowing high pitch riff going through the track from the start. The start of the track there are lots of things going off. There are stuttered in scratches and tough stabbing synths with bursts of sound fading in a repeated echo in the build up here. The main lead really goes through you in here and works with all the rest of the elements on the build. The main break see's the an electro effected monster with gritty kicks adding extra punch. There is a great flow when it all gets going and it another excellent piece of production from Jochen.
Conclusion:
I would say this is one of his best releases to date with two very different tracks but both providing you with some real ear candy. I'd recommended picking these up but my pick would be 9 Minutes out of the two in here.
