Another from the Finity fold, this time on the digital arm of the label and this one is from Alex Gemin, a new addition to the label. Thomas Feijk puts in a remix...
:: Aleks Gemin - Empty Room :: Finity Digital :: FTYDG013
1) Empty Room (Original Mix) As a very long track - over 9 minutes - 'Empty Room' takes its time to achieve its targets. It is driven by quite a hefty, pounding beat and some dirty, grimy bass synths. Once that is established, a significant portion of the track is spent convincing the listener that this progressive nature of the sound, aside from a few spacey synths and vocal FX, is all you should be expecting from the entire 9 minutes. Wrong. After the breakdown, quite the metamorphosis occurs. A chord progression and basic melodic essence is unveiled. This goes on to develop into something which is most definitely trance and quite a world away from how things began. Infact, the resulting sound is interesting - not unique but more 'sought after', you could say. What I mean is that it's pushing out a near perfect combination of severely driving beats, simple catchy hook and dreamy chords. Also, the crescendo effect towards the end of the track is spine-tingling!
2) Empty Room (Thomas Feijk Remix) Thomas Feijk puts in a magical remix. He's turned the original upside down and infused progressive, electro, trance and some serious groove to make a downright funky yet dreamy creation. There's a stark contrast between the delicate lead synth and the dark and twisted bass groove. It's quite a lonely sounding track, but that simply adds to its beauty.
Conclusion:
An interesting pair of tracks on this release. They certainly attempt to redefine several genres and really should be listened to in their entirety before you pass judgment!
