Frank Robusch makes what appears to be a debut release with 'Tapestry'. With remix support from Lank and more importantly, Sequentia, what a debut it is too...
:: Frank Robusch - Tapestry :: Insatiable Records :: INSAT007
1) Tapestry (Original Mix) 'Tapestry' is built on solid trance ideals and structure. The melodies, the progression, the chords, they're all fine in theory. When put together in the original form though the track comes across as sounding quite 'raw'. The gritty basses and pulsing synths don't do this track the justice that it deserves. The melody offers some solace when it kicks in however, as it is without a doubt beautiful, plus there are some clever changes in the lead sound which keep a fresh edge to things. Fine, just kind of unpolished. Bear with me.
2) Tapestry (Lank Dirty Dub) A very odd remix here. It's not just dirty, it's not just a dub - the melody is missing, I guess that's what they meant - it's bloody deep and thick too. The bass is so deep and gutsy, the percussion is hypnotic and the shrill, rising and falling synth is so chilling. This is such a different track it's unbelievable. The difference in style is massive yet the track itself is very compelling, in a dark, terrifying kind of way.
3) Tapestry (Sequentia Remix) Right, mix number 3 comes from the insatiable Sequentia who has some decent releases under their belt and a whole load more remixes. They've gone and reworked 'Tapestry', and in doing so have reworked it into quite a storm! All those rough edges have gone, the bass is thick, fast and booming. The top end is lively and the pads are ornamental in their beauty. Female voices can be heard mingling in the background providing a ghostly, spine-tingling essence. All these little elements creep up around you and build to the breakdown where the melody comes into play. I mentioned earlier about the melody, and that it was good. But not exactly HOW good. Well it's pretty bloody fantastic is how good and in Sequentia's more than capable hands a true monster is created. The chord sequence is one of the best in the world, the pads are the best suited to play them and the onset of the tear-jerkingly emotional melody is a thing to behold. The drop, well, words don't do it justice. This is an amazing track, a beautiful work of art, something that I sincerely hope you get to hear in a club at least once in your life. Go buy this now.
Conclusion:
The Sequentia Remix is really what this is about. It's immense.
