The mix compilation is usually formed with a lot of planning and preparation with each track mixed as perfect as the producer can make it. There is one drawback to all that perfect planning and such is you don’t really get that club feeling when listening to it. That’s where the 'Live As...' (Formally known as 'Live As Fucking Fuck' in its earlier editions) looks to capture the magic and energy of a live set and put it on one tidy mix CD.
Quite a few of my favourite compilations have been of sets recorded live at clubs and this series has already seen the likes of John Askew, Matt Hardwick, John O'Callaghan, Sean Tyas and Greg Downey put together mixes in the previous five editions. The sixth edition see's Activa, AKA Robert Stevenson, put his mixing skills to the test with a live recording from The Digital Society in Leeds. The mix is a high energy uplifting Trance session with crowd noises thrown in for good measure. It's as it was on the night so any errors are all included but that’s what makes the series individual.
