The signs are good with this compilation as soon as you turn it over and have a look at the tracks they have put in it. It's all mixed by the power of software but that doesn’t matter as all three discs have been blended together very efficiently. This release is all about the latest Trance or if you go by the title 'Future Trance'. There is a real mixture of old classics with a new remix on and some of the latest corkers from the likes of Simon Patterson, Wippenberg and Ferry Corsten. The whole track selection on here pours back to the late autumn and winter releases from last year while sliding in a few surprises.
The first disc sets the tone for the rest of the compilation although the choice of the opening track is not one that I found particularly pleasant. I'm sure Guru Josh does considering how much hammer that particular remix has been getting around the local cheesy nightclubs. It’s the vocals for me on there, terrible but with a CD there is always the skip button and thankfully the other seventeen tracks are bang on. The initial vibe you get with this disc its all about the melodies. Chainside is a good example of that with a relaxed feel to it, soothing female vocals and a very catchy lead. The man who made a big impact last year Deadmau5 is here with a track remixed by Cosmic Gate that you may find familiar to the ear. One of the highlights of the first disc for me is Gareth Emery's remix of Darude's I Run. I normally sniff my nose up at 80's covers as they tend to be a terrible but not this one. It's got a real twinkle of emotion in there keeping in line with the original 80's classic, I can't remember who did the original at the moment though. The rest of the disc is spot on with the new remake of Rapid Eye's Circa Forever, Re-Wards new mix of Into The Night and a track from Armin's last artist album Unforgivable
The rest of the compilation is just one quality trance record after the other with tracks I'm sure you will have played and enjoyed already. It does start off with one of the most popular mainstream house tracks by Erik Prydz last year 'Pjanoo' with the Dana Bergquist & Peder G remix that goes very well into Oceanlab's emotional 'Breaking Ties'. Spread over the latter two discs are more updated classics with Silver Bath, Universal Nation and Ayla reminding you of tracks that may well have got you into Trance back in the late nineties. The new mixes mixed in with new records from Marco V with his tech driven Coma Aid, Ferry Corsten's bass driven Radio Clash and the excellent Martin Roth remix of Starchaser's 'So High'.
In all this compilation delivers great quality trance, although a touch on the house side with a few of the tracks, that should be a good tool in pointing dance music fans to the better side of the dance music world. With this being a Cream compilation I would expect it to be in all the major record stores and decent sized advertising budget.
Conclusion:
Cream deliver with a solid three disc compilation packed with some very enjoyable trance offerings. There are plenty of tracks rammed in there so your definitely getting your moneys worth. The compilation is blended together very nicely for three mixes of incredible pleasure. This is one to check out.
